Overview
The Contracts/Procurement Engineer is responsible for supporting and overseeing contracting activities, procurement processes, and supply chain performance within oil and gas projects. This role combines technical understanding with strong commercial acumen to ensure effective sourcing, contracting strategy, supplier oversight, and materials planning—specifically within the chemicals and catalysts category.
The ideal candidate brings solid, hands‑on contracting experience in oil and gas and can immediately contribute with minimal supervision.

Contracts / Procurement Engineer
Overview
The Contracts/Procurement Engineer is responsible for supporting and overseeing contracting activities, procurement processes, and supply chain performance within oil and gas projects. This role combines technical understanding with strong commercial acumen to ensure effective sourcing, contracting strategy, supplier oversight, and materials planning—specifically within the chemicals and catalysts category.
The ideal candidate brings solid, hands‑on contracting experience in oil and gas and can immediately contribute with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support contracting activities related to chemicals, catalysts, and associated supply chains.
- Oversee purchasing and supply chain execution for assigned scopes (note: this role oversees rather than executes transactional purchasing).
- Apply engineering judgment and procurement knowledge to develop contracting strategies and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Perform a variety of tasks independently, relying on experience to make informed decisions and drive progress.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure timely and cost‑effective delivery of materials and services.
- Contribute across multiple project phases and, where applicable, build expertise in related technical or commercial disciplines.
- Utilize creativity and problem‑solving skills to address complex contracting and procurement challenges.
- Report to a supervisor or manager while operating with considerable autonomy.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field and/or 5–10 years of experience applying engineering or procurement principles to oil and gas projects.
- Strong understanding of contracting concepts, procurement practices, and supply chain procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited day‑to‑day supervision.
- Experience contributing across multiple project phases or disciplines.
- Strong judgment, analytical ability, and decision‑making skills.
- Primary requirement: Solid contracting experience within the oil and gas industry.
- Experience with catalyst and chemical supply chains (nice to have but not required).
- Ability to quickly integrate into a project team and “hit the ground running.”
- Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
