Control Systems Engineering Specialist (Projects) Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineering Specialist to support major oil & gas projects from FEED through EPC and commissioning phases. The role focuses on ensuring that control and automation systems are engineered, reviewed, and implemented in compliance with project specifications, international standards, and safety requirements.
The specialist will act as a technical authority for control systems, working closely with internal project teams and external engineering contractors to ensure high-quality, safe, and cost-effective project execution. Reporting Line
Reports to: Lead Instrumentation & Electrical Engineer Key Responsibilities
Control Systems Engineering
  • Perform control systems engineering activities in line with project specifications, regulatory requirements, and approved design standards.
  • Review and validate control system architectures, philosophies, specifications, and detailed designs.
  • Ensure correct application of project control philosophies during design, procurement, installation, and testing.
Project Support & Execution
  • Support project execution teams by resolving control system engineering issues and providing timely technical solutions.
  • Monitor engineering activities performed by FEED, EPC contractors, and third-party service providers across all project phases.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet schedule, quality, safety, and cost objectives.
Contractor & Stakeholder Coordination
  • Interface with EPC contractors, vendors, and external engineering teams to ensure alignment with project and company requirements.
  • Participate in technical reviews, design discussions, and vendor evaluations.
  • Provide technical input during procurement, FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities.
Compliance & Standards
  • Ensure compliance with company engineering systems, project management processes, and applicable international standards.
  • Support continuous improvement of engineering procedures, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Ensure all activities comply with HSE, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Technical Leadership
  • Provide specialist expertise and guidance to multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Support and mentor other engineers in complex analyses and technical decision-making.
  • Contribute to cross-disciplinary project tasks when required.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Instrumentation, Control, Electrical, or related discipline).
Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in control systems engineering within the oil & gas industry.
  • At least 4 years of experience in project execution teams (FEED / EPC).
  • Strong exposure to large-scale projects such as gas processing plants, LNG facilities, or offshore/onshore developments.
Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • DCS, PLC, SIS/ESD, SCADA, and Fire & Gas systems
    • Control system philosophies, specifications, and design reviews
  • Experience with major control system vendors (e.g., Yokogawa, Honeywell, Emerson, Siemens).
  • Proficient in engineering tools, documentation, and project management systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
