Location:
New Iberia, LA
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hrs/week + possible overtime (some weekends)
Assignment Length: 1 year (potential to convert to full-time)
Pay Rate: $17-20/hr


About the Role A warehouse and yard operation is seeking a dependable Forklift Operator to support daily material‑handling activities. This role involves operating heavy equipment, organizing inventory, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. This position is 100% onsite.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely load and unload materials arriving by truck, barge, and rail.
  • Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material-handling equipment.
  • Perform daily preventive maintenance on forklifts.
  • Accurately complete bills of lading.
  • Inspect and verify all incoming products for correct quantity and condition.
  • Move palletized materials through shrink‑wrap systems.
  • Position and move rail cars for loading and unloading using track‑mobile equipment.
  • Store finished products in designated areas.
  • Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness throughout the warehouse and yard.
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and quality procedures.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in warehouse or operations environment preferred
  • Ability to meet “very heavy” physical demands
  • Routine exposure to temperature extremes, noise, confined spaces, and elevated heights
  • Must pass a motor vehicle record check
  • No DOT requirement
