Contract HSE Site Manager – Wednesbury, West Midlands – initial 3/4 month contract

Our client is seeking to hire an experience HSE Site Manager to be based at ongoing project-site in Wednesbury, West Midlands.

The nature of the project is commercial-scale PV solar installation at existing manufacturing site.

Rate: Negotiable

Duration: June / July 2026

Working Hours: Typically, 9am-5pm but may be flexible

Duties / Experience:
 
  • A few years of site experience with HSE qualifications required. If not site‑experienced, must be able to demonstrate in practice how they manage safety, including the management of contractors on site.
  • Representing the end client – site supervision “basic eyes and ears” mostly to keep a strong HSE focus
  • Liaising with the site team, who maintain strict site protocols – procedures
  • Distribution hub so a lot of monitoring who / what is coming in and out
  • Conducting morning toolbox talks and morning kick‑off meetings.
  • Performing wind velocity checks and wet‑surface / rain condition reviews – is the site safe
  • Contractor Management – communication ability to make decisions
  • Managing entry and exit of four contractor groups:
    • Roof clearance / prep team
    • Roofer – PV‑trained for implementation
    • Electricians
    • Roof repairs and upgrades team
  • Collecting names, numbers, and headcount per day, evidenced via email or records.
  • Ensuring all contractors adhere to site safety procedures.
  • Compliance / Safety
  • Checking Permits to Work.
  • Ensuring “CDM” rules are adhered to.
  • Maintaining documentation and communicating via email (basic Microsoft Office skills required).
    • Awareness or experience on Roof environments
