The Laboratory Technician I is responsible for performing and documenting quality assurance testing to ensure the accuracy and integrity of analytical results in compliance with the Laboratory Quality Assurance Program. This role supports refinery operations by conducting analyses aligned with Refinery and Loss Control Programs, contributing to improved safety and reduced refinery losses. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical problem-solving skills, effective communication, and a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform and document quality assurance testing to maintain data integrity and adherence to QA standards.
- Conduct analyses in accordance with Refinery and Loss Control Programs to support operational safety and efficiency.
- Learn and apply analytical standards, methods, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with engineers, operators, and maintenance personnel to ensure accurate and timely analyses.
- Apply creativity and technical knowledge to resolve analytical challenges.
- Maintain strong interpersonal skills, including communication, teamwork, and leadership.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks, ensuring quality and accuracy.
- Promote health, safety, and environmental stewardship in all work activities.
- Comply with laboratory policies, company standards, and federal, state, and local regulations.
- Work overtime as required and follow safe work practices at all times.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work around chemicals, including acids and bases.
- Wear fire-retardant clothing and PPE (steel-toed shoes, eye and ear protection).
- Maintain facial grooming for proper respirator fit (clean-shaven if applicable).
- Work outdoors in harsh weather conditions.
- Handle petroleum products under high pressure and heat.
- Learn and use computer software related to process operations.
- Highly organized, able to multitask, and communicate effectively with a strong focus on safety and data integrity.
