Job Description: Contract Maintenance Support Technician
Location: Minnedosa, MB
Contract Length: 1 Year – possibility for extension
Position Overview
The Maintenance Support Technician is a versatile role responsible for supporting daily activities within the Maintenance Department and providing vacation relief for Material Handling positions involved in grain receiving and DDGS loading. This position assists journeyperson technicians with maintenance work orders, operates mobile equipment, and supports warehouse and plant upkeep.
Key responsibilities include receiving and unloading chemicals, materials, and equipment; maintaining a clean and organized warehouse; performing general maintenance tasks; and supporting logistics such as mail delivery and parts pickup. The role requires mechanical aptitude, the ability to organize and prioritize tasks, and competence with forklifts and front‑end loaders.
This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor, alongside millwrights, pipefitters, welders, instrumentation, and electrical trades. Responsibilities

This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor, alongside millwrights, pipefitters, welders, instrumentation, and electrical trades. Responsibilities
- Demonstrate strong safety awareness and follow all HSE standards. Actively participate in permitting/lockout procedures and plant safety programs, including conducting STOP audits.
- Operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, front‑end loaders, skid steers, ride‑on mowers, and street sweepers for material movement and plant upkeep.
- Perform general handyman tasks, including minor carpentry, painting, sign installation and maintenance, and fire extinguisher upkeep.
- Deliver mail within the plant and conduct pickups/deliveries in Minnedosa, Brandon, or Winnipeg using company vehicles.
- Provide vacation coverage for Material Handling roles, including:
- Grain receiving: assisting with grain grading, binning, issuing receipts, and maintaining throughput.
- DDGS loading: assisting with loading operations and preparing bills of lading.
- Support other trades as needed within a self‑directed work environment.
- Pick up parts and equipment when required.
- Strong proficiency in operating mobile equipment.
- General carpentry skills, including safe use of small power tools.
- Experience in grain handling is considered an asset.
- Minimum 1 year of experience operating forklifts and loaders.
- Minimum 1 year of handyman or carpentry experience (workplace or home improvement).
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to assist across multiple trades.
- Minimum Grade 12 education.
- No formal trade certificates are required.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
