Job Title: Nurse II
Location: Sarnia, Ontario
Length: 1 year (with potential extension)
Rotation: Monday – Friday
 
Role Summary
The Nurse II provides occupational health services across multiple sites or operations and delivers regional or global nursing support through established networks and committees. This role typically requires certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). The Nurse II ensures high‑quality clinical care, supports compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements, and contributes to the development and implementation of Occupational Health programs.
 
Main Functions
  • Deliver occupational health services within the professional scope and standards of licensure.
  • Provide guidance to other health professionals regarding routine, non‑routine, and complex occupational health care.
  • Support development of local policies and procedures in collaboration with Occupational Health teams.
  • Determine and communicate Fitness For Work assessments and train others in this process.
  • Provide regional or global support as required through Occupational Health networks.
 
Tasks and Responsibilities:
 
Clinical Services & Documentation
  • Provide and document clinical services for employees and others as determined by site management.
  • Guide other health professionals in proper documentation and service delivery.
  • Manage case files involving injury/illness, occupational evaluations, and travel health preparation.
 
Program Development & Compliance
  • Develop local Occupational Health policies and procedures in consultation with site professionals.
  • Perform, analyze, and evaluate Health Screening data to identify potential workplace exposures.
  • Make recommendations to management based on individual and group health trends.
  • Train others to perform health screening and exposure assessment activities.
 
Fitness for Work & Case Management
  • Conduct Fitness For Work evaluations and communicate outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Provide training to others involved in case management and occupational evaluations.
  • Support regional or global Occupational Health initiatives as required.
 
Vendor & External Provider Coordination
  • Train external medical service providers to ensure alignment with corporate guidelines.
  • Coordinate Alcohol and Drug Use (ADU) testing services as needed.
 
Committees, Projects & Leadership
  • Actively participate in Medical and Occupational Health (MOH) and Safety, Security, Health, and Environment (SSHE) committees and initiatives.
  • May assume lead responsibilities at a regional level.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of Occupational Health programs.
 
Resource & Clinic Management
  • Manage clinic resources effectively and ensure appropriate utilization.
  • Support emergency preparedness and response activities as required.

  • Education & Licensing:
    Nursing degree, Advanced Nursing degree, Physician Assistant, or equivalent.
    Must be licensed in the jurisdiction of supported operations.
 
  • Technical Knowledge:
    Detailed understanding of occupational medicine, emergency medical response, toxicology, and legal considerations relevant to occupational health care.
