Introduction The Plant Manager will oversee the operations of a thermal power plant, ensuring optimal performance, regulatory compliance, and operational readiness. This role involves leadership, strategic planning, and hands-on management to maintain and improve power generation assets.

Key Responsibilitie

Leadership & Staff Management:

• Supervise and lead plant operators, electricians, and other personnel.
• Foster a safe, efficient, and collaborative work environment.

Operational Oversight:

• Ensure maximum operational readiness to meet dispatch instructions from the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO).
• Oversee daily plant operations, maintenance schedules, and emergency response procedures.

Regulatory Compliance:

• Maintain compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies such as TSSA and utilities (e.g., HONI).

Budgeting & Cost Control:

• Develop and manage budgets for operations and maintenance.
• Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures without compromising safety or reliability.

Procurement & Vendor Management:

• Lead procurement activities for products and services in collaboration with staff.
• Manage relationships with suppliers and contractors.

Reporting & Documentation:

• Prepare and submit reports on staffing, operations, and maintenance to senior management.
• Maintain accurate records of plant performance and compliance activities.

Strategic Development:

• Participate in initiatives to extend or expand plant capacity and energy services through future Requests for Proposals (RFPs).

Travel:

• Occasional travel may be required for meetings, inspections, or training.

• Candidate Profile
  • Education & Certification:
     
    • 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Class Power (Operating) Engineer certification from TSSA (desirable).
    • Diploma or certificate in business administration, electromechanics, electrotechnology, or similar (desirable).

Experience:

• Minimum 10 years in steam and/or gas turbine operations (desirable).
• Experience with IESO, HONI, and TSSA processes (desirable).
• Proven track record in human resource management.

Technical Skills:

• Knowledge of thermal power generation operations and safety standards.

• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and report generation.

Language Skills:

• Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken).
• Working knowledge of French is an asset.

Other Requirements:

Valid driver’s license.
