Job Title: ITC Systems Engineer
Department: ITC / Infrastructure Services Team
Location: Basra, Iraq
Rotation: 28/28 Days
Role Synopsis: The Systems Engineer is a hands-on technical role, responsible for the support of over 500 virtual and standalone servers and storage/backup infrastructure.
The role involves maintaining trouble-free operations, resolving operational issues, and change activities. Key responsibilities include deploying, monitoring, maintaining, and upgrading servers, storage, operating systems, and software in collaboration with other teams. The engineer will also assess security vulnerabilities and manage systems using tools to report on capacity and performance.
This position is crucial for ensuring effective customer support and continuous service improvement while promoting a culture of safety and honesty within the team.

Key Accountabilities:
- Deploy, monitor, maintain, upgrade, and support servers, storage, operating systems, and software in collaboration with infrastructure and other ITC teams.
- Provide support to ITC teams with project implementation.
- Stay alert to security vulnerabilities and take appropriate action to mitigate risks.
- Monitor and manage systems using appropriate tools such as SolarWinds, reporting on capacity, performance, and optimisation, and taking necessary remediation action.
- Collaborate with the Applications, Network, and Service Desk teams to ensure effective customer support, sharing information and knowledge through processes, dialogue, and collaborative work.
- Participate in weekly operational reviews.
- Identify and progress continuous service improvement activities.
- Identify risks to service delivery, recommend options to address them, and execute approved options.
- Define and execute changes based on agreed policy.
- Manage your training plan to ensure skills and capabilities align with ITC requirements.
- Actively promote a culture of Safety and Honesty within the team.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a similar ITC Infrastructure Engineer role
- A proven track record in back-office infrastructure service delivery.
- OS Administration: Windows Server 2019/2022/2025 and Microsoft Exchange Online.
- Experience administering Active Directory and Microsoft Azure.
- Experience with VMware and Hyper-V.
- Experience with ExaGrid storage systems.
- Experience of VDI environments (Citrix / AVD)
- Understanding of Cloud IaaS and PaaS (preferably Azure)
- Understanding of Hyperconverged environments.
- Knowledge of data centre operations and technologies.
- Knowledge of network infrastructure components.
- Good communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to think proactively and deliver with a focus on detail.
- A delivery-focused mindset with strong customer empathy
- University degree in the field of Engineering / IT or related discipline. or related equivalent experience.
Desirable criteria & qualifications
- ITIL V3 foundation and at least 1 ITIL Intermediate certification, preferably V3 Service Operations, Application Programming experience
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert (MS-102)
- VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV)
- CompTIA Server+
- CompTIA Security+
