NES Fircroft is partnering with a leading resources company in Central Queensland. They are seeking a senior maintenance leader to drive reliability and maintenance planning across site operations. The site cultivates a welcoming, family-oriented environment, and the business has invested heavily in improving operational processes, creating a supportive culture where your leadership can make a meaningful impact.

This role combines reliability engineering, maintenance planning, and operational execution, suited to someone who enjoys building disciplined systems, enhancing equipment performance, and embedding best-practice frameworks in a production-focused environment. Local and DIDO candidates are preferred, with relocation support available for the right individual.

Reporting to the site maintenance leadership team, you will lead planning, scheduling, and reliability processes across mobile and fixed plant. The focus is on improving system discipline, backlog management, and asset reliability while ensuring statutory, safety, and commercial obligations are met. You’ll join a collaborative team that values engagement and continuous improvement, providing the platform to deliver measurable outcomes in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead site-wide maintenance planning and scheduling standards from work identification through to execution and close-out
  • Establish governance, routines, and performance metrics that drive plan stability and execution quality
  • Own the CMMS (SAP or equivalent), including work order quality, backlog structure, shutdown scope development, and component strategies
  • Drive reliability improvements through defect elimination, RCA, and optimisation of preventive maintenance strategies
  • Ensure maintenance activities align with QLD Coal Mining Safety & Health legislation and site statutory requirements
  • Partner with operations to balance production demand, maintenance risk, and equipment availability
  • Provide leadership and direction to planners and reliability-focused team members
  • Support cost control, contractor performance, and maintenance budget outcomes
About You To be successful in this role, you will bring:
  • Significant experience in maintenance planning and reliability roles within open-cut coal mining operations
  • Demonstrated accountability for maintenance systems rather than advisory-only reliability roles
  • Strong working knowledge of QLD coal mining legislation as it applies to maintenance execution and planning
  • Hands-on experience using SAP or similar CMMS in a high-volume asset environment
  • A track record of improving equipment reliability and availability, particularly across mobile fleets
  • Experience leading technical teams and influencing operational stakeholders in a site-based environment
  • A commercially aware approach to maintenance decision-making and resource allocation
  • Must have Australian working rights
