Senior Construction Engineer

Step into a pivotal role where your expertise drives the successful execution of complex construction projects in the challenging environment of brownfield modifications. As a Senior Construction Engineer, you will be at the forefront of ensuring constructability and safe execution across multi-disciplined and single-discipline projects, supporting Project Engineers and Managers from planning through to handover. Your input will shape critical project phases—providing constructability insights, managing on-site activities, advising on claims, and overseeing safety and quality management in high-stakes shutdown and non-shutdown campaigns for CAT IV-VI projects. This is your opportunity to lead in a dynamic setting that demands technical excellence, strategic planning, and hands-on construction leadership.

Required Skills:

  • Proven ability to provide constructability reviews and practical input during pre-FEED and work scoping phases.
  • Strong project execution skills managing brownfield construction activities, including shutdown and turnaround projects.
  • Expertise in analyzing schedules, identifying critical paths, and developing mitigation strategies in challenging environments.
  • Thorough understanding of safety leadership, including reviewing and approving contractors’ SHE Plans and leading safety walks.
  • Solid experience in risk assessment, claims advisory, and resolution of construction issues.
  • Competence in ensuring compliance with quality management systems and reviewing construction-related documentation, such as As-Built drawings and Interface Agreements.
  • Skilled in vendor prequalification, tender evaluation, and contractor performance monitoring using key metrics.
  • Ability to manage logistical planning for equipment, accommodation, and temporary facilities in onshore and offshore settings.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills to interface with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Familiarity with Taproot incident investigation techniques and safety incentive programs.
  • Experience with SIMOPS (Simultaneous Operations) and managing complex interface agreements.
  • Knowledge of offshore installation barges, hot tap machines, and heavy equipment in construction projects.
  • Previous involvement in Independent Project Review or Cold Eye Reviews.
  • Exposure to benchmarking scheduling and cost data against industry norms.
Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Civil, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in project execution within the oil and gas sector, with a focus on brownfield construction.
  • Demonstrated track record in supporting critical plant shutdowns and turnarounds.

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites, including offshore locations.
  • Valid certifications related to construction safety and quality management are advantageous.
