Position: Technical Writer II
Location: Midland or Houston, TX
Schedule: 5/2, 40 hours per week – Travel/field visits as needed
Rate: $60/hr
End Date: One year contract. (Considered long term with likely extension

Role Overview Responsible for producing technical documentation to support various aspects of the business.

Key Responsibilities In addition to Level 1 responsibilities, a Level 2 Technical Writer will:
  • Design and develop new procedures.
  • Implement changes to procedures as requested by SMEs.
  • Update procedures upon revalidation by SMEs.
  • Follow up on SME-initiated requests for procedure creation/updates.
  • Create and edit Worker Assessment documents (Knowledge and Skills) upon procedure approval, in collaboration with SMEs.
  • Manage and update Worker Assessment documents on the Training SharePoint.
  • Ensure procedures and assessment documents are accurate, current, and accessible to users.
  • Collaborate with the Training Team (LMS Administrator) to maintain curriculums within LMS roadmaps.
  • Ensure procedures in PMeT are up-to-date and available for users.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software applications.
  • Strong understanding of documentation systems and controls.
  • Knowledge of developing Operating & Maintenance procedures, Work Instructions, and training materials.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and manuals.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills; attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Adaptability to challenging and multicultural work environments.
  • Experience in multinational settings preferred.
  • Ability to focus on detailed work for extended periods.

  • Travel reimbursement provided as needed.

  • Local Midland candidates preferred; open to Houston-based candidates (approx. 40% travel).
  • Hands-on tool experience a plus.
  • Science, Engineering (e.g., Mechanical), or Technical degree preferred.
  • MS Office experience required.
  • Extensive experience not required.
  • Responsibilities include creating training materials/modules for technical field roles and working closely with SMEs.
