Job Summary
The Civil Quality Inspector is responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and verifying civil construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, approved drawings, contract requirements, and applicable codes. The inspector supports the project team by identifying non-conformances, documenting inspection results, and ensuring that all civil works meet design specifications and site-specific requirements.  

Key Responsibilities
Quality Inspection & Verification
 Conduct inspections of civil construction activities including earthworks, excavation, grading, concrete placement, foundations, paving, utilities, and structural works.
 Verify that work is performed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and quality control plans.
 Perform material receiving inspections and verify compliance with project requirements.
 Witness field testing activities, including soil compaction, concrete testing, and other quality assurance tests.
 Ensure proper installation and workmanship of civil infrastructure components.

Documentation & Reporting
 Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and quality documentation.
 Review and verify Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and quality checklists.
 Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports as required.
 Document non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective actions, and follow-up inspections.
 Ensure all quality records are properly filed and maintained for project closeout.

Compliance & Standards
 Ensure compliance with project specifications, local building codes, industry standards, and company requirements.
 Monitor contractor adherence to approved procedures and quality control requirements.
 Participate in internal and external quality audits.
 Support implementation of the project's Quality Management System (QMS).  

Coordination
 Coordinate inspections with construction supervisors, subcontractors, testing laboratories, and client representatives.
 Attend quality meetings and provide updates on inspection activities and quality issues.
 Work closely with engineering and construction teams to resolve quality-related concerns.  

Continuous Improvement
 Identify quality trends and recommend improvements to construction practices.
 Assist in root-cause analysis and corrective action processes.
 Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement on the project site.  

Required Qualifications
Education
 Associate or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred.
 Relevant technical certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree.
 OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Training  

Experience
 3–7 years of experience in civil construction quality inspection.
 Experience with heavy civil, infrastructure, commercial, industrial, utility, or renewable energy projects preferred.
 Knowledge of concrete, earthwork, grading, and utility installation quality requirements.  

Certifications (Preferred)
 ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician
 ICC Inspector Certifications
 ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI)
 NICET Certification (where applicable)
 FAA part 107, Certified Drone Pilot  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
 Strong understanding of civil engineering drawings and specifications.
 Knowledge of ASTM, ACI, AASHTO, and applicable construction standards.
 Ability to interpret quality plans, test reports, and inspection procedures.
 Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
 Strong communications & interpersonal skills.
 Strong written and verbal communication skills.
 Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
 Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
 Strong organizational and documentation skills.  

Physical Requirements
 Ability to walk construction sites for extended periods.
 Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
 Ability to navigate uneven terrain, and access active construction areas.
 Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds as required.

 On-time completion of inspection reports and records.

Position Objective: Ensure all civil construction work is completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with project specifications and quality standards while minimizing rework and supporting successful project delivery.
