About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Designer Specialist Expertise Secondary Systems to join a leading organisation operating within the electricity transmission and energy infrastructure sector.
This position offers the chance to contribute to the development and maintenance of technical standards used within high-voltage transmission infrastructure, supporting the ongoing evolution of a reliable, sustainable, and future-focused electricity network.
Working within the Grid Expertise & Standards (Secondary Systems) function, you will play a key role in the design, review, and standardisation of protection, control, automation, and measurement systems used across critical grid infrastructure projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesReview and validate supplier technical drawings, designs, and standard documentation.Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) when required.Develop and maintain AutoCAD symbols based on approved supplier documentation.Create, review, and update standard plans, protection block diagrams, and detailed principle schematics.Ensure designs comply with established methodologies, concept requirements, engineering standards, and approved equipment specifications.Manage workload effectively to meet project priorities and deliverables.Maintain, improve, and adapt Excel-based engineering tools, including VBA/macros.Design and develop additional tools to support engineering and operational activities when required.Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will possess:A Bachelor's degree in Energy Technology, Electromechanics, Electronics, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.A solid understanding of electrical engineering principles.The ability to read, interpret, and analyse electrical schematics.Good working knowledge of AutoCAD.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.Previous experience within a similar engineering or design environment.Fluency in Dutch and/or French, together with a good command of English.Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to take ownership of responsibilities.An interest in emerging technologies and the future of the energy sector.Flexibility to undertake occasional short-duration international travel for Factory Acceptance Tests.What's on OfferThe opportunity to work on strategically important energy infrastructure projects.Exposure to highly specialised technical disciplines within the transmission and utilities sector.A collaborative and professional working environment.Long-term career development within a rapidly evolving industry.The chance to contribute to the development of sustainable and reliable energy infrastructure for the future.
