Electrical Assembler

POSITION OVERVIEW The position description of the Tech I - Electrical Assembly includes reading and interpreting internally generated wiring diagrams and schematics, understanding component functions, and installing components using appropriate wires, terminations, and labels to fully wire custom control panels. This individual will also assist in electrical assembly and, with training, may assist in minor electrical testing and commissioning activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Install and assemble wire harnesses and wire tags.
• Identify components based on bills of material (BOMs).
• Inspect components for defects prior to installation.
• Install components into control panels before wiring.
• Select the correct wire location, gauge, and type from wiring diagrams.
• Determine wire routing, cut lengths, and install wiring.
• Select appropriate terminations for wire connections.
• Wire and assemble electrical control panels.
• Wire electrical panel components in accordance with wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Perform self-quality inspections to verify wiring accuracy and component selection.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues using wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Ensure proper PPE is worn and tools/equipment are used appropriately for assigned tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to identify electrical components and understand their functionality.
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in electrical control panel wiring, including:
  • Interpreting wiring diagrams and schematics and applying them to panel construction.
  • Wire, termination, and component selection.
• Proficiency in the safe and proper use of power tools.
• Proficiency in selecting and using electrical hand tools.
• Conduit bending skills using manual, hydraulic, and electric benders.
• Solid understanding of electrical safety standards and protocols.
• Basic knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) standards related to electrical equipment installation and terminations.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

EDUCATION

• Post-secondary education in Electronics, Electrical, or Electromechanical Technology preferred

SKILLS

• Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, schematics, and bills of material (BOMs).
