Electrical Commissioning Manager

NES Fircroft is supporting a leading international contractor delivering a large-scale mission-critical infrastructure project in Portugal and is seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Manager to join the site delivery team.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the successful commissioning and handover of a high-profile data centre development, working within a multidisciplinary team on one of Europe's most significant mission-critical projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all electrical commissioning activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Develop, review and implement commissioning procedures, test scripts and commissioning plans.
• Coordinate commissioning activities across electrical systems including MV/LV distribution, transformers, UPS systems, generators, switchgear and associated control systems.
• Work closely with project delivery, construction, QA/QC and client teams to ensure systems are commissioned safely and efficiently.
• Manage commissioning schedules and monitor progress against key project milestones.
• Support energisation planning and execution activities.
• Coordinate integrated systems testing (IST) and functional performance testing.
• Review and approve commissioning documentation, test records and handover packs.
• Manage interfaces between electrical, mechanical and controls commissioning teams.
• Ensure all commissioning activities are carried out in accordance with project procedures, industry standards and health & safety requirements.
• Support final client demonstrations, handover processes and operational readiness activities.

Requirements

• Proven experience working as an Electrical Commissioning Manager, Lead Commissioning Engineer or Senior Commissioning Engineer within mission-critical environments.
• Strong background delivering commissioning activities on large-scale data centre, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, hyperscale or other critical infrastructure projects.
• Extensive knowledge of:
  • Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) systems
  • Transformers
  • UPS systems
  • Standby power generation systems
  • Switchgear
  • BMS and EPMS systems
  • Protection and control systems
• Experience managing integrated systems testing (IST) programmes.
• Strong understanding of commissioning processes, turnover and client handover requirements.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills.

Preferred

• Previous data centre project experience.
• Experience working on hyperscale or colocation facilities.
• Familiarity with Level 1-5 commissioning methodologies.
• Electrical Engineering qualification or equivalent technical background.
• Knowledge of mission-critical commissioning and operational readiness processes.
