Electrical Project Engineer | HV/Solar | 2:1 Roster

$90–$100 per hour + super | 2:1 roster | Major renewable energy project | Pilbara, WA

An excellent contract opportunity is available for an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to join the delivery team on a major renewable energy infrastructure project in Western Australia.

Working on a large-scale solar and high-voltage power project, you will support the electrical scope through construction, testing, commissioning, energisation and final handover.

This role would suit an Electrical Project Engineer with strong experience across HV infrastructure, substations, renewable energy, mining or major electrical construction projects who enjoys being close to site delivery and solving real engineering challenges.

The OpportunityYou will work as part of an experienced project delivery team responsible for major electrical infrastructure including:
  • Utility-scale solar infrastructure
  • High-voltage substations
  • Power transformers and switchgear
  • Protection and control systems
  • HV/LV cable systems
  • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
  • Power Conversion Systems (PCS)
  • SCADA and communications systems
  • Electrical Balance of Plant (EBoP)
You will be involved across the project lifecycle, with a strong focus on construction support, commissioning, energisation and technical problem-solving on site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide electrical engineering support across construction, testing, commissioning, energisation and handover.
  • Review electrical drawings, design packages, vendor documentation and contractor submissions.
  • Manage and resolve RFIs, technical queries, design changes, non-conformances and field engineering issues.
  • Monitor electrical construction activities against scope, schedule, quality and project requirements.
  • Provide technical support across HV substations, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, BESS, PCS and solar EBoP.
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction, commissioning teams, contractors, OEMs and project stakeholders.
  • Support FATs, SATs, pre-commissioning, commissioning and energisation activities.
  • Review ITPs, commissioning procedures, test records, relay settings and as-built documentation.
  • Assist with defect, punch-list and technical close-out activities.
  • Ensure works comply with applicable Australian Standards, electrical safety requirements and project engineering standards.
About You

We are looking for an engineer who can confidently operate in a major-project site environment and work across both technical engineering and construction delivery.

Ideally, you will have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Approximately 5+ years’ experience in electrical engineering within construction, mining, power, utilities or major infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of high-voltage power systems and substations.
  • Experience supporting electrical packages through construction and commissioning.
  • Exposure to solar, BESS, transmission or renewable energy projects will be highly regarded.
  • Experience working with electrical contractors, OEMs, consultants and commissioning teams.
  • Strong understanding of protection and control, transformers, switchgear and HV/LV cable systems.
  • Knowledge of Australian electrical standards and industry requirements.
  • Strong technical problem-solving and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence.
  • CPEng status or eligibility is desirable but not essential.
