An established Australian engineering and construction organisation is seeking an experienced Estimating Manager to lead a sizeable estimating team supporting large-scale projects across multiple sectors. About The Role

Reporting to a senior proposals leader, you will oversee a large estimating function responsible for delivering complex tenders across construction, fabrication, SMP (Structural, Mechanical & Piping), manufacturing and infrastructure projects.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll balance strategic oversight with technical estimating expertise, supporting tenders ranging from maintenance and shutdown works through to major projects valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead estimating activities across major construction and SMP projects.
  • Review, prepare and validate detailed cost estimates and tender submissions.
  • Manage and mentor a team of estimators and estimating leaders.
  • Build capability within the estimating function and support future growth.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimisation and emerging technologies.
  • Work closely with operational, commercial and project stakeholders across the business.
  • Support the successful delivery of high-value tenders across multiple industry sectors.
About You 
  • Extensive estimating experience within SMP, construction, engineering, fabrication, manufacturing or related industries.
  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing large estimating teams.
  • The ability to remain technically involved while leading people and driving performance.
  • Strong commercial acumen and analytical capability.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • A highly organised, detailed and methodical approach.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Trade qualification and/or engineering degree.
  • Experience delivering tenders for large-scale industrial, infrastructure, defence or construction projects.
