We are currently looking for an experienced Instrumentation Commissioning Supervisor to join a major industrial project based in Antwerp, Belgium.

This is a hands-on commissioning engineering role. We are specifically looking for candidates with strong practical experience in instrumentation pre-commissioning and commissioning.

Please note: this is not an SPV-only position. The successful candidate must have previous experience working as a Commissioning Engineer and be technically confident in carrying out, troubleshooting and managing instrumentation commissioning activities on site.

The Role

You will be responsible for the pre-commissioning and commissioning of instrumentation systems, ensuring equipment and systems are correctly installed, tested, calibrated, commissioned and brought safely into service in accordance with project specifications and procedures.

You will work closely with the Commissioning Manager, other disciplines, contractors, subcontractors and vendors throughout the commissioning phase.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate instrumentation pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
  • Carry out and supervise instrumentation testing, loop checks and functional testing.
  • Review instrumentation drawings, datasheets, specifications and commissioning procedures.
  • Develop and/or review commissioning and test procedures.
  • Coordinate and execute instrument calibration and testing activities.
  • Carry out I/O checks, continuity checks, loop checks and functional testing.
  • Support the testing and commissioning of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Work closely with the DCS/PLC and Control Systems teams to complete system interfaces and functional testing.
  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation and commissioning issues on site.
  • Review and manage punch lists and outstanding commissioning activities.
  • Work with vendors and contractors during SAT, testing and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure commissioning activities are completed safely and in line with project procedures, specifications and schedules.
  • Maintain accurate commissioning records, test results and handover documentation.
  • Support the Commissioning Manager with progress reporting and planning.
  • Assist with final system acceptance and handover to the client.
About You

We are looking for an experienced Instrumentation Commissioning Supervisor  who has worked on major industrial, energy, petrochemical, chemical, oil & gas or similar projects.

You should have:

  • Proven experience working as an Instrumentation Commissioning Engineer.
  • Strong hands-on experience with instrumentation commissioning, loop checking and functional testing.
  • Experience with instrument calibration, testing and fault finding.
  • Good understanding of instrumentation drawings, P&IDs, loop diagrams and datasheets.
  • Experience with I/O checks and interfaces with DCS, PLC or control systems.
  • Experience working with contractors, vendors and other engineering disciplines during commissioning.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and drive them through to resolution.
  • Good understanding of commissioning procedures, punch lists and handover documentation.
  • A relevant qualification in Instrumentation, Control, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Strong HSE awareness and experience working within site Permit to Work and RAMS procedures.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multinational project team.
Important This is an engineering commissioning position and not an SPV-only role.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate previous hands-on instrumentation commissioning experience as an engineer, rather than solely having experience supervising or managing commissioning teams.

Location The position is based on site in Antwerp, Belgium, working on a major industrial project.

We are particularly interested in candidates currently based in Belgium or elsewhere in Europe who are available to work in Belgium for the duration of the project.

Previous experience on large-scale industrial, energy, petrochemical, chemical or oil & gas projects would be highly advantageous.
