Position Title: JS.CRO.005 Team Leader CRS Training
Grade: NJS 12

The National Judicial Staff Services (NJSS) has initiated a major organisational restructure to strengthen its workforce and enhance the delivery of efficient, effective, and quality support services to the Judiciary and courts throughout Papua New Guinea. We invite suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated Papua New Guineans to apply for the position of Team Leader CRS Training within the Court Reporting Service division based in Waigani.

Role Overview:
The Team Leader CRS Training will report to & support the Director by ensuring the highest standards of training and professional development for court reporting staff. This position is responsible for the design, delivery, and assessment of training programs that equip new and existing CRO’s and TQCRO’s with the necessary skills to perform their duties effectively. The role directly contributes to the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of court reporting service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver the specialist three-month Certificate in Court Reporting course for new CRO and TQCRO trainees.
  • Assess the competencies of trainees and staff through examinations and quality assurance processes.
  • Provide continuous feedback and refresher training to ensure high standards of log note accuracy and court audio quality.
  • Coordinate with external entities for additional training opportunities and skill development.
  • Oversee the induction process for new staff members, ensuring a smooth transition into their roles.
  • Conduct 6 monthly performance appraisals, of subordinate officers and probationary CROs and TQCROs
  • Develop and manage the training budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Advise recruitment panels, contributing expert insights for the selection of court reporting officers.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director, supporting the division’s overarching goals.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of court reporting technologies and methodologies, applying best practices in training programs.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in Education or equivalent.
  • Cert IV TAA/TAE or related field.
  • 4 years’ of experience in the court reporting environment and preferably from a training background.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of court reporting practices and technologies.
  • Thorough understanding of adult learning principles and training methodologies.
  • General knowledge of performance evaluation techniques.
  • Leadership and management skills.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in curriculum development and instructional design.
  • Ability to analyse performance data and implement strategic training interventions.
  • High level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Exceptional organizational and planning abilities.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to meet changing needs.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Preferred
  • Postgraduate in a related field.
  • Proven experience in adult teaching.
