Position Title: JS.CRO.006 Assistant Training Officer
Grade: NJS 11
The National Judicial Staff Services (NJSS) has initiated a major organisational restructure to strengthen its workforce and enhance the delivery of efficient, effective, and quality support services to the Judiciary and courts throughout Papua New Guinea. We invite suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated Papua New Guineans to apply for the position of Assistant Training Officer within the Court Reporting Service division based in Waigani.
Role Overview:
The Assistant Training Officer will report to & support the Team Leader CRS Training. This position is vital for enhancing the professional skills and knowledge of the division’s personnel, directly contributing to the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of court reporting within the Supreme and National Court Registry. The role involves assisting in the planning, coordination, and administration of training activities, ensuring that training objectives are met, and that staff are equipped to perform their duties effectively.

The Assistant Training Officer will report to & support the Team Leader CRS Training. The role involves assisting in the planning, coordination, and administration of training activities, ensuring that training objectives are met, and that staff are equipped to perform their duties effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and revision of training materials to ensure content is up-to-date and relevant.
- Coordinate training schedules, venue bookings, and participant invitations.
- Support the delivery of training sessions, including setting up training environments and assisting with technology needs.
- Manage the registration of participants and maintain attendance records.
- Compile and organize training feedback for review and action.
- Produce reports on training activities, outcomes, and participant progress.
- Contribute to the evaluation and assessment of training effectiveness.
- Maintain a comprehensive database of training materials and participant records.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to arrange specialized training sessions.
- Perform administrative tasks related to training activities, such as budget tracking and procurement of training supplies.
- Diploma in Education, Human Resources, or related field.
- Cert IV TAA/TAE or related field.
- 3 years’ of experience in the court reporting environment and preferably from a training background.
- Comprehensive knowledge of court reporting.
- General knowledge of adult learning principles and training methodologies.
- Working knowledge of program development and evaluation techniques.
- Thorough understanding of the court reporting process and requirements.
- Organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in training software and technologies.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Effective public speaking and presentation skills.
- High level of professionalism and integrity.
- Detail-oriented & adaptable.
- Proactive in identifying and addressing training needs.
- Committed to continuous improvement and professional development.
- Advance Diploma in Education, Training & Development, or a closely related discipline.
- Proven experience in adult teaching, preferably within a legal or court setting.
