Position Title: JS.CRO.044 Court Reporting Officer
Grade: NJS09
The National Judicial Staff Services (NJSS) has undertaken a major organisational restructure aimed at strengthening its workforce and enhancing the delivery of efficient, effective and quality support services to the Judiciary and the courts throughout Papua New Guinea. NJSS therefore invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced and motivated Papua New Guineans for the positions advertised below. What You’ll Bring to the Role:
- Diploma in Office Administration or equivalent certification in court reporting service
- Proficiency in legal terminology and court procedures
- Strong command of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax
- Ability to type at 60 words per minute with an error rate no greater than 2%
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality
- Effective communication skills and problem-solving aptitude
- Ability to perform diligently under pressure and adapt to dynamic courtroom environments
- Familiarity with audio recording technology
- Advanced Diploma in a related discipline
- Three or more years of experience in a legal or court setting
- Prior involvement in quality control of transcripts
- Experience troubleshooting FTR (Full Trial Record) systems
- Proven capability to undertake National Court circuit assignments
- An advanced diploma qualification in a related discipline is highly desirable
- Experience of three or more years in legal administration, transcription, or court reporting
- Flexibility to attend National Court circuits and regional relief duties as assigned
- Willingness to engage in continuous professional development to enhance your skills
- Strict adherence to confidentiality and judicial staff policies
