Position Title: JS.CRO.056 Production Cell Supervisor
Grade: NJS 11
The National Judicial Staff Services (NJSS) has initiated a major organisational restructure to strengthen its workforce and enhance the delivery of efficient, effective, and quality support services to the Judiciary and courts throughout Papua New Guinea. We invite suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated Papua New Guineans to apply for the position of Production Cell Supervisor within the Recording, Transcript, Production & Sales unit based in Waigani.
Role Overview:
The Production Cell Supervisor is a key figure within the Court Reporting Services, specifically designed to oversee a distinct operational "cell" within the court reporting process, such as transcription, editing, or quality control. This role is essential in supervising the cell's daily operations, setting production targets, ensuring quality standards are met, and contributing significantly to the efficient and timely delivery of accurate court transcripts.

The Production Cell Supervisor is a key figure within the Court Reporting Services, specifically designed to oversee a distinct operational "cell" within the court reporting process, such as transcription, editing, or quality control. This role is essential in supervising the cell's daily operations, setting production targets, ensuring quality standards are met, and contributing significantly to the efficient and timely delivery of accurate court transcripts.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and compile glossaries of witness names and terminologies used in the proceedings.
- Divide the digital audio recording of the proceedings into 5-minute segments, allocating them to cell members for expedited transcription.
- Provide mentoring to subordinates.
- Integrate segmented transcripts into a complete document ready for quality control.
- Oversee cell production, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating transcription activities to meet deadlines and ensure quality.
- Monitor the performance and productivity of cell members, identifying areas for improvement.
- Address technical or procedural issues that arise, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Implement strategies to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of transcription processes.
- Provide regular reports to the Assistant Manager on cell performance, challenges, and progress.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Manager of Waigani Operations.
- Diploma in English, Management, or related fields.
- Certification in Court Reporting.
- 3 years’ of experience as a Court Reporting Officer and operating the FTR Digital Recording and Transcription System.
- Thorough knowledge of court reporting processes and terminology.
- General knowledge of management and operational efficiency strategies.
- Working knowledge of quality control processes in document production.
- Organizational and planning skills.
- Effective communication and leadership skills.
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines.
- Proficiency in relevant software and technology solutions for court reporting.
- Adaptability and flexibility to manage sudden changes in workload.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and collaboration.
- Proactive in identifying and addressing challenges.
- High degree of professionalism and integrity.
- Advanced Diploma in Journalism, Management, or related fields.
- 3 years or more experience in Quality Control.
- Sound experience in the operation of the FTR Digital Recording and Transcription System.
