Position Title: JS.CRO.068 Technically Qualified Court Reporting Officer
Grade: NJS 09
The National Judicial Staff Services (NJSS) has initiated a major organisational restructure to strengthen its workforce and enhance the delivery of efficient, effective, and quality support services to the Judiciary and courts throughout Papua New Guinea. We invite suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated Papua New Guineans to apply for the position of Technically Qualified Court Reporting Officer within the Recording, Transcript, Production & Sales unit based in Waigani.
Role Overview:
The Technically Qualified Court Reporting Officer will report to & support the Manager of Waigani Operations by monitoring and recording the court and tribunal proceedings using diverse digital recording systems to ensure accurate documentation and archiving of legal proceedings. This position is responsible for diagnosing and resolving technical issues with recording equipment and inputting vital data into CRS databases. The role exists to facilitate the accurate and efficient capture of legal proceedings, supporting the judicial process and ensuring the integrity of court records for legal reference and historical preservation.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies for enhancing the efficiency of the cell production process.
- Monitor and report court proceedings.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical faults and issues with FTR systems.
- Input data of all court proceedings into the CRS online database.
- Undertake National Court circuits.
- Undertake relief duties to regional locations.
- Train new CROs/TQCROs in courtroom duties.
- Liaise with registry officers for case particulars.
- Submit reports to Manager as and when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Manager of Waigani Operations.
- Diploma in Communication and Information Technology.
- Possess 3 years in court recording environment or recording studios.
- Thorough knowledge of court reporting processes and terminology.
- General knowledge of project management and operational efficiency strategies.
- Working knowledge of quality control processes in document production.
- Organizational and planning skills.
- Effective communication and leadership skills.
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines.
- Proficiency in audio software and audio technology both in analogue & digital solutions for court reporting.
- Adaptability and flexibility to manage sudden changes in workload.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and collaboration.
- Proactive in identifying and addressing challenges.
- High degree of professionalism and integrity.
- Advanced Diploma in Information Technology or equivalent.
- 3 years or more experience in the performance of IT operations, preferably in a court environment.
