Position Title: JS.FIN.010 Team Leader Imprest Account
Grade: NJS 13

The National Judicial Staff Services (NJSS) has initiated a major organisational restructure to strengthen its workforce and enhance the delivery of efficient, effective, and quality support services to the Judiciary and courts throughout Papua New Guinea. We invite suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated Papua New Guineans to apply for the position of Team Leader Imprest Account within the Accounts unit based in Waigani.

Role Overview:

Responsible for overseeing the management and reconciliation of Imprest accounts across provincial court locations. This role ensures the efficient and compliant handling of petty cash transactions, supporting the financial operations of the provincial courts through meticulous fund management and reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of Imprest accounts, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Coordinate with provincial court locations to ensure their Imprest fund needs are met and properly accounted for.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for Imprest account management, including fund distribution, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Conduct regular audits of Imprest accounts to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare and present financial reports on Imprest account transactions and balances to senior management.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors to provide required information and facilitate audits of Imprest funds.
  • Train and support provincial court staff on Imprest account procedures and compliance.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the Imprest accounts team, setting objectives and monitoring performance.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiency and security in managing Imprest funds.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and organizational policies related to petty cash management.
  • All other duties as directed by authority in relation to and as applicable to the position.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 5 years’ experience in financial management, with specific experience in fund or cash management roles.
  • Strong understanding of financial management and petty cash handling.
  • Knowledge of financial policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting or a related field.
  • 5 years or more experience in similar role.
This Team Leader Imprest Account role requires sound judgement, adaptability, and a consistent commitment to professional service. The successful applicant will be expected to meet the role's operational demands, including partial implementation of JSIMS Finance Module.
