Position Title: JS.IFA.005 Architect
Grade: NJS 11

The National Judicial Staff Services (NJSS) has initiated a major organisational restructure to strengthen its workforce and enhance the delivery of efficient, effective, and quality support services to the Judiciary and courts throughout Papua New Guinea. We invite suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated Papua New Guineans to apply for the position of Architect within the Infrastructure & Projects unit based in Waigani.

Role Overview:

The Architect will assist in the design, planning, and management of projects related to the development and renovation of court facilities nationwide. This role is crucial for ensuring that our infrastructure meets the highest standards of functionality, safety, and sustainability, aligning with our commitment to serve the community effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of architectural drawings and designs.
  • Participate in site evaluations and assessments.
  • Support project planning and the development of project schedules.
  • Contribute to the preparation of cost estimates and budgets.
  • Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and other professionals.
  • Ensure projects comply with environmental regulations and green building standards.
  • Attend project meetings and provide updates to the project manager.
  • Assist in resolving design and development issues.
  • Gather requirements and feedback from stakeholders.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of architectural trends, materials, and technologies.
  • All other duties as directed by authority in relation to and as applicable to the position.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Diploma in Architecture.
  • Registration with the relevant professional Architectural body.
  • 3 years of experience in the industry.
  • Proficiency in architectural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Understanding of building codes, standards, and building structures.
  • Basic knowledge of project management principles.
  • Creative and innovative thinking.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a sense of responsibility.
Preferred
  • Specialization in sustainable architecture or urban planning.
  • 3 years or more experience in a similar role.
This Architect role requires sound judgement, adaptability, and a consistent commitment to professional service. The successful applicant will be expected to meet the role's operational demands, including making Sure Designs Are Perfect: The Project Architect needs to create designs that are not only good-looking but also practical, sustainable, and compliant with lots of rules about safety and the environment.
