JS.LEG.013 Investigation Officer
Position Title: JS.LEG.013 Investigation Officer
Grade: NJS 11
The National Judicial Staff Services (NJSS) has initiated a major organisational restructure to strengthen its workforce and enhance the delivery of efficient, effective, and quality support services to the Judiciary and courts throughout Papua New Guinea. We invite suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated Papua New Guineans to apply for the position of Investigation Officer within the JCC unit based in Waigani.
Role Overview:
The Investigation Officer is responsible for conducting thorough investigations into a wide range of incidents including but not limited to fraud, misconduct, compliance breaches, and security incidents within the organization. The role demands a high level of integrity, analytical skills, and confidentiality. To administer and carry out investigations and compile accurate information to the Legal Division and NJSS.
Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out timely and conduct adequate internal investigations into disciplinary matters and effectively obtain all relevant evidence related to an investigation of alleged offences.
  • Handle and supervise internal investigations of all reported incidents, misconduct, policy, or procedure breaches.
  • Carry out end-of-the-end investigations by ensuring that all prescribed procedures and standards for the investigation are followed.
  • Compile investigation report as per the prescribed methods, containing the findings of the investigation.
  • Effectively maintain case files and investigation database.
  • Make meaningful recommendations based on investigations conducted.
  • Provide accurate and objective feedback/reports based on investigations.
  • Efficiently assist the Tribunal Clerk to ensure that appeal disciplinary matters are ready for tribunal hearings.
  • Investigate disciplinary referrals and collect statements or evidence.
  • Manage and keep records of investigative findings.
  • Report on investigative findings to divisional head.
  • Provide assistance to tribunal officers concerning disciplinary and appeal matters.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Diploma in Law & Police Prosecution.
  • Three years or more’ work experience in investigations.
  • Office Administration Computer Literate (Outlook, MS Word, Excel) Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing Fair knowledge of PNG Law
  • Ability to work without supervision and under pressure.
  • Attention to detail and able to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to travel anytime when required to other provinces.
  • Very well presented
Preferred
  • Degree in Law, Arts Literature from a recognised tertiary institution Investigator from disciplinary institutions.
  • Five years or more work experience in investigations.
This Investigation Officer role requires sound judgement, adaptability, and a consistent commitment to professional service. The successful applicant will be expected to meet the role's operational demands, including may face obstruction and hindrance from the offenders.
