Position Title: JS.NCV.035 CDS Team Leader CC4
Grade: NJS 11
The National Judicial Staff Services (NJSS) has initiated a major organisational restructure to strengthen its workforce and enhance the delivery of efficient, effective, and quality support services to the Judiciary and courts throughout Papua New Guinea. We invite suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated Papua New Guineans to apply for the position of CDS Team Leader CC4 within the National Court Civil division based in Waigani.
Role Overview:
The Case Docketing Systems Team Leader is responsible for leading and overseeing the case docketing operations within the National Court Registry. This position involves managing the team responsible for the entry, maintenance, and integrity of case data within the court’s electronic case management systems. The role is pivotal in ensuring that the court's docketing system is accurate, reliable, and efficiently supports the judicial process.

Key Responsibilities
- CDS Team Leader is essential to the efficient functioning of the Civil court track. Below are the key duties and responsibilities associated with this role:
- Manage all the cases filed in his or her respective court track. This includes processing incoming cases, court documents, maintaining existing case records, scheduling hearings, and tracking case progress.
- Provide support to Assistant Registrar and Track Judge in the management and listing of the cases on a daily basis.
- Ensuring that all incoming court documents are in compliance with Court Rules, and practice directions.
- Facilitate communication between the court, litigants, attorneys, and other stakeholders.
- Respond to inquiries from the public and provide information about court procedures and schedule hearings, trials, and other court proceedings.
- Oversee the proper retention and disposal of court records in accordance with established policies and legal guidelines.
- Prepare periodic reports on case statistics, workload, and performance metrics for management considerations.
- Be a custodian of the case management system (CDS) by proactively reviewing them with the aim to improve existing processes.
- Assist the Assistant Registrar with the supervision of the staff.
- Prepare annual strategic plans, work plans and budgets for the Registry.
- Contribute to the effectiveness of the Court Track Management by providing relevant, accurate and timely performance information to the immediate supervisors as required and contribute to management meetings in a positive, constructive manner.
- Educational qualifications: Diploma in Information Technology, Business Management or related fields.
- Experience: 3 years’ experience in the National and Supreme Court Registry as a civil officer
- Knowledge and Skills: Sound knowledge of Court Registry operations, practices, procedures and protocols.
- Knowledge and Skills: Track record in administration and management of court files.
- Personal Qualities: The officer must possess understanding of the legal system, including the structure, functions, and processes of the registry.
- Personal Qualities: This includes the ability to set strategic direction, make informed decisions, motivate staff, and drive organizational change. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are also important for collaborating with stakeholders, such as judges, court administrators, and other court users.
- Educational Qualifications: Bachelor in Court Administration or equivalent.
- Experience: Must have a track record of successful management, including overseeing court track operations, planning, and resource allocation.
