Position Title: JS.REG.005 Driver
Grade: NJS 06

The National Judicial Staff Services (NJSS) has initiated a major organisational restructure to strengthen its workforce and enhance the delivery of efficient, effective, and quality support services to the Judiciary and courts throughout Papua New Guinea. We invite suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated Papua New Guineans to apply for the position of Driver within the Registrar’s Office based in Waigani.

Role Overview:

As a critical member of the Registrar’s Office, the Driver is responsible for the secure and timely transportation of legal documents and personnel between the court, law offices, and other relevant locations. The role supports efficient court operations through safe driving, confidentiality, reliable scheduling, vehicle care, and responsive transport support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport court documents, legal files, court personnel, and authorised passengers as directed.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of transported documents, materials, and conversations.
  • Keep accurate logs of travel, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance.
  • Coordinate with Registry staff and court officials to manage daily transport requirements.
  • Conduct routine vehicle checks and ensure the vehicle is clean, fuelled, and ready for daily operations.
  • Adhere to traffic laws, safety requirements, and NJSS Fleet Management Policy or directives.
  • Report incidents, accidents, and maintenance issues promptly to the supervisor.
  • Respond effectively to urgent schedule or route changes.
  • Facilitate minor vehicle repairs and coordinate major maintenance when required.
  • Participate in training and safety briefings as required.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Grade 12 Certificate.
  • Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
  • Familiarity with local roads and routes.
  • Ability to handle sensitive documents with discretion.
Preferred
  • Experience in a similar role within a legal or court setting.
  • Basic vehicle maintenance skills.
