Position Title: JS.SAM.008 Driver
Grade: NJS 03

The National Judicial Staff Services (NJSS) has initiated a major organisational restructure to strengthen its workforce and enhance the delivery of efficient, effective, and quality support services to the Judiciary and courts throughout Papua New Guinea. We invite suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated Papua New Guineans to apply for the position of Driver within the Sheriff Enforcement unit based in Waigani.

Role Overview:
The Driver is a key position is responsible for facilitating the efficient movement of the Deputy Sheriff Enforcement and other staff members, as needed, to various locations while maintaining confidentiality and security. The role exists to support the division's operational efficiency by providing reliable transportation services, thus contributing to the division's mandate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport the Deputy Sheriff Enforcement and other staff members meetings, and other official engagements as required.
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks to ensure mechanical integrity and cleanliness.
  • Schedule regular maintenance and ensure any necessary vehicle repairs are completed promptly.
  • Manage and safeguard sensitive documents and materials during transport.
  • Plan and navigate efficient travel routes.
  • Maintain accurate travel and vehicle maintenance logs.
  • Respond flexibly to unscheduled transportation requests as they arise.
  • Always uphold confidentiality and discretion.
  • Ensure adherence to traffic and parking regulations.
  • Perform minor vehicle maintenance tasks, such as changing oil or tires, as needed.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Grade 12 Certificate.
  • Valid Class 3 or Class 6 PNG Driver’s License.
  • 2 years or more working experience in a corporate or organizational setting.
  • Basic knowledge in vehicle maintenance and safety.
  • Experience with driving a variety of vehicles.
  • Clean and excellent driving record.
  • General knowledge of vehicle maintenance, Thorough knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations, and Working knowledge of navigation and route planning.
  • Excellent driving skills, good time management, effective communication, ability to perform minor vehicle repairs, and proficiency in using GPS and navigation tools.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • Professional & discrete.
  • Clean & Sober Habits.
  • Physical stamina and good upper body strength to lift heavy luggage, packages, and objects, as well as be able to load and unload from vehicle.
  • Team player and customer focused.
Preferred
  • Certification in defensive driving or professional driving training.
  • 2 years or more working experience in a corporate or government setting.
This Driver position requires a highly reliable and professional individual capable of supporting the Sheriff division's unique transportation needs. The role is pivotal in ensuring that the division operates smoothly by facilitating the efficient and secure movement of personnel and documents. Success in this position is measured not just by adherence to schedules but also by the ability to maintain the vehicle in top condition and handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality.
