Mechanical Engineer 

Overview Our client, a leading mining and mineral processing operation in Northern Saskatchewan, is seeking an Intermediate to Senior Mechanical Engineer to support a portfolio of capital and operational projects on a fly-in/fly-out basis. This role offers the opportunity to manage multidisciplinary projects from concept through commissioning while working within a complex industrial environment. Based on the project requirements, the position is expected to run for an initial six-month term with potential extension. 

Location & Rotation
  • Northern Saskatchewan (FIFO)
  • 14 days on / 14 days off rotation
  • 11-hour workdays on site
  • Camp accommodation, meals, and transportation from designated Saskatchewan travel hubs provided by the client while on rotation. 
Key Responsibilities
  • Report to the Chief Mine Engineer and provide engineering support across a portfolio of CapEx and OpEx projects.
  • Perform conceptual and detailed mechanical engineering design activities.
  • Prepare equipment specifications, technical datasheets, and tender packages.
  • Support procurement activities and coordinate with vendors to facilitate project execution.
  • Ensure mechanical and piping systems comply with applicable codes, standards, regulatory requirements, and QA/QC expectations.
  • Manage projects through all phases, including engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Coordinate technical information requests during fabrication and construction.
  • Participate in shop inspections and site visits to verify design compliance and construction quality.
  • Provide project management and contractor supervision on site.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Perform additional duties as required by site leadership. 
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation and registration with APEGS.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering design, analysis, and construction support.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams. 
Technical Experience
  • Strong understanding of ASME B31.3, ASME BPVC Section VIII, and API 650 codes.
  • Experience with process piping systems, slurry pipelines, tanks, and pressure vessels.
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment selection and specification, including pumps, compressors, and heat exchangers.
  • Experience within mining, mineral processing, or other large industrial operations is highly desirable.
  • Instrumentation sizing and specification experience is considered an asset.

Contract Details
