Position Overview
Mechanical Engineer II supports the design, installation, commissioning, and reliable operation of power-generation and industrial mechanical systems. This role works with engineering, project, field, vendor, and operations teams to deliver safe, practical solutions for rotating equipment and associated balance-of-plant systems.

Mechanical Engineer II supports the design, installation, commissioning, and reliable operation of power-generation and industrial mechanical systems. This role works with engineering, project, field, vendor, and operations teams to deliver safe, practical solutions for rotating equipment and associated balance-of-plant systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review mechanical specifications, calculations, equipment datasheets, layouts, P&IDs, and vendor drawings.
- Support the selection and sizing of piping, valves, pumps, fuel systems, ventilation, cooling, exhaust, and other auxiliary equipment.
- Coordinate mechanical interfaces with electrical, controls, civil, construction, and operations teams.
- Evaluate site conditions and translate project requirements into constructible mechanical scope and installation plans.
- Provide technical support during fabrication, installation, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.
- Review vendor proposals, resolve technical questions, and verify compliance with project requirements and applicable codes.
- Investigate equipment issues, support root-cause analysis, and recommend corrective or reliability improvements.
- Maintain accurate engineering records, redlines, equipment documentation, and as-built information.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
- Four to eight years of mechanical-engineering experience in power generation, industrial facilities, oil and gas, petrochemical, rotating equipment, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of piping systems, rotating equipment, pressure equipment, and mechanical balance-of-plant systems.
- Ability to read P&IDs, equipment layouts, fabrication drawings, and technical specifications.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and interdisciplinary coordination skills.
- Ability to travel to project sites and work safely around operating industrial equipment.
- Experience with gas turbines, generators, modular equipment, or field commissioning.
- Familiarity with ASME, API, NFPA, OSHA, and relevant industrial standards.
- Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Plant 3D, or similar engineering software.
- Engineer in Training certification or progress toward Professional Engineer licensure.
