About the Opportunity NES Fircroft is seeking experienced and motivated Mechanical Fitters to support upcoming works associated with the Papua LNG Project in Papua New Guinea.

This opportunity is exclusively available to PNG Nationals and is aimed at skilled tradespeople with previous experience in LNG, oil & gas, petrochemical, mining, major construction or similar heavy industrial environments.

Successful candidates will work as part of a multidisciplinary construction team and will be responsible for the safe installation, assembly, alignment, inspection and maintenance of mechanical equipment in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, procedures and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities As a Mechanical Fitter, your responsibilities will include:

• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment layouts, specifications and vendor documentation.
• Install, assemble and maintain mechanical equipment and associated components.
• Perform installation and alignment of pumps, compressors, motors, gearboxes and other rotating equipment as required.
• Install and maintain static mechanical equipment including vessels, tanks, heat exchangers and associated components.
• Carry out shaft, coupling and equipment alignment activities using appropriate measuring and alignment tools.
• Install bearings, seals, gaskets, couplings and other mechanical components.
• Perform precision measurements, equipment levelling, shimming and mechanical adjustments.
• Complete equipment inspection, maintenance and mechanical completion activities.
• Assist with equipment testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities where required.
• Identify and report damaged, defective or non-conforming equipment and materials.
• Use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring equipment and mechanical fitting equipment safely and correctly.
• Coordinate with riggers, pipe fitters, welders, electricians, supervisors and other trades to complete mechanical works safely and efficiently.
• Maintain good housekeeping and ensure work areas remain clean and safe.
• Participate in pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and other project safety activities.
• Follow all site Health, Safety, Security and Environment requirements.
• Carry out other reasonable duties as directed by the Mechanical Supervisor or Superintendent.

Qualifications & Experience Candidates should ideally have:

• Recognised trade qualification or relevant technical/vocational training in mechanical fitting or a related discipline.
• Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter within LNG, oil & gas, petrochemical, mining, processing or major industrial construction projects.
• Experience with the installation and maintenance of rotating and/or static mechanical equipment.
• Good understanding of equipment alignment, levelling, tolerances and mechanical installation practices.
• Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, equipment layouts and vendor documentation.
• Experience using precision measurement and alignment equipment.
• Familiarity with bearings, seals, couplings, gaskets, bolted connections and other mechanical components.
• Familiarity with safe lifting, manual handling and working around rigging operations.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multicultural and multidisciplinary project team.
• Previous LNG or major oil & gas project experience will be highly regarded.

Mandatory Requirements Applicants must:

• Be a Papua New Guinea Citizen / National.
• Hold valid identification and supporting documentation confirming PNG citizenship.
• Hold relevant trade certificates or competency documentation where applicable.
• Be willing to work at designated project locations within Papua New Guinea.
• Be willing and able to work the project roster and scheduled working hours.
• Be medically fit to perform the inherent requirements of the role and successfully complete applicable pre-employment medical requirements.
• Comply with all project alcohol and other drug, safety, security and site access requirements.
