Underground Mine Surveyor | Growing Underground Copper Operation | Queensland

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Underground Mine Surveyor to join a well-established underground hard-rock mining operation in Queensland.

With significant growth and expansion projects underway, this operation offers the opportunity to work within a technically focused team supporting both current production activities and future mine development. Reporting to the Senior Mine Surveyor, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely survey services that support safe, efficient, and productive mining operations.

About the Role
As the Underground Mine Surveyor, your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing accurate underground and surface survey data to support mining activities
  • Installing and maintaining survey control networks and survey stations
  • Marking up development and production designs for underground operations
  • Conducting development pickups and maintaining as-built survey models
  • Completing cavity monitoring system (CMS) surveys and validating survey results
  • Producing survey plans, reports, and technical documentation
  • Undertaking monthly volume and reconciliation surveys
  • Supporting surface set-outs and aerial survey activities where required
  • Maintaining survey equipment and ensuring calibration standards are met
  • Driving continuous improvement in survey processes and data management
About You
To be successful in the role, you will ideally possess:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Surveying, Geomatics, Spatial Science, or a related discipline
  • Strong experience within hard-rock mining
  • Exposure to mining methods such as longhole open stoping, sublevel caving, or similar underground extraction techniques
  • Proficiency with industry-standard software including GEOVIA Surpac, Pix4D, or comparable survey platforms
  • Strong understanding of underground survey control, development mark-ups, and production surveying
  • Experience using Leica survey equipment (highly regarded)
  • Drone surveying experience and RePL certification (advantageous)
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across technical and operational teams
