About the Opportunity NES Fircroft is seeking experienced and quality-focused NDT Technicians to support upcoming works associated with the Papua LNG Project in Papua New Guinea.

This opportunity is exclusively available to PNG Nationals and is aimed at qualified technicians with previous experience in LNG, oil & gas, petrochemical, mining, fabrication, pipelines, major construction or similar heavy industrial environments.

Successful candidates will work as part of the project Quality and Construction teams and will be responsible for conducting Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and associated inspection activities in accordance with approved procedures, applicable codes, specifications and project quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities As an NDT Technician, your responsibilities will include:

• Perform Non-Destructive Testing activities in accordance with approved NDT procedures, project specifications and applicable codes and standards.
• Conduct inspections using relevant NDT methods appropriate to individual qualifications and project requirements.
• NDT methods may include Visual Testing (VT), Dye/Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Radiographic Testing (RT) as applicable.
• Inspect welds, piping, structural steel, fabricated components and other project materials as required.
• Review inspection requests, drawings, weld maps and relevant technical documentation prior to commencing inspections.
• Verify component identification, weld numbers and inspection locations to maintain inspection traceability.
• Prepare surfaces and equipment for NDT activities where required.
• Set up, calibrate and verify NDT equipment prior to use in accordance with approved procedures.
• Identify and evaluate relevant indications in accordance with applicable acceptance criteria.
• Accurately record inspection results and prepare NDT reports and associated quality documentation.
• Clearly identify and report non-conforming or defective welds and components.
• Maintain accurate records and traceability of completed inspections.
• Coordinate with Welding Inspectors, QC personnel, Welders, Pipe Fitters, supervisors and construction teams.
• Assist with re-inspection of repaired welds or components as required.
• Ensure NDT equipment is maintained, calibrated and fit for purpose.
• Comply with all applicable exclusion zone, radiation safety and controlled-area requirements when supporting radiographic inspection activities.
• Maintain good housekeeping and ensure inspection areas remain safe and controlled.
• Participate in pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and other project safety activities.
• Follow all site Health, Safety, Security and Environment requirements.
• Carry out other reasonable duties as directed by the NDT Supervisor, QC Supervisor or Quality Manager.

Qualifications & Experience Candidates should ideally have:

• Recognised technical qualification, vocational training or certification in Non-Destructive Testing.
• Current or previously held NDT certification in one or more relevant inspection methods.
• Previous experience as an NDT Technician within LNG, oil & gas, petrochemical, mining, pipelines, fabrication or major industrial construction projects.
• Practical experience in applicable NDT methods such as VT, PT, MT, UT and/or RT.
• Experience inspecting welded piping, structural steel and fabricated components.
• Ability to read and understand drawings, piping isometrics, weld maps and inspection documentation.
• Good understanding of weld terminology, welding processes and common weld discontinuities.
• Experience using and calibrating relevant NDT equipment.
• Understanding of NDT reporting, inspection traceability and quality documentation.
• Familiarity with applicable industry codes, standards and acceptance criteria.
• Good understanding of project quality control and inspection processes.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multicultural and multidisciplinary project team.
• Previous LNG or major oil & gas project experience will be highly regarded.

Mandatory Requirements Applicants must:

• Be a Papua New Guinea Citizen / National.
• Hold valid identification and supporting documentation confirming PNG citizenship.
• Hold relevant NDT training, competency and/or certification for the inspection methods to be performed.
• Provide copies of relevant NDT certification and supporting competency records where applicable.
• Be prepared to undertake project-specific competency verification or testing where required.
• Be willing to work at designated project locations within Papua New Guinea.
• Be willing and able to work the project roster and scheduled working hours.
• Be medically fit to perform the inherent requirements of the role and successfully complete applicable pre-employment medical requirements.
• Comply with all project alcohol and other drug, safety, security and site access requirements.
• Meet any additional regulatory or project requirements associated with specific NDT methods being performed.
