Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Offshore Structural Department Manager to lead and manage our offshore structural engineering discipline across global operations.
This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of structural engineering solutions across offshore oil & gas, marine, and energy transition projects.
You will serve as the technical authority for offshore structural engineering while providing governance, leadership, and strategic direction across all activities—including topsides, jackets, floating systems, and associated infrastructure—aligned with Client’s engineering management systems, project requirements, and industry standards.

This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of structural engineering solutions across offshore oil & gas, marine, and energy transition projects.
You will serve as the technical authority for offshore structural engineering while providing governance, leadership, and strategic direction across all activities—including topsides, jackets, floating systems, and associated infrastructure—aligned with Client’s engineering management systems, project requirements, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Department Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and develop the Offshore Structural Engineering Department across global execution centers
- Establish and continuously improve structural engineering standards, procedures, and best practices in line with Client management systems
- Align departmental strategy with business growth objectives and project delivery goals
- Support capability development and strengthen offshore positioning for future projects
- Act as the technical authority for offshore structural engineering
- Ensure compliance with:
- International codes and standards
- Project specifications and contractual requirements
- Client Engineering Management Systems and procedures
- Approve design philosophies, methodologies, and key technical decisions
- Evaluate and approve deviations from standards where required
- Oversee delivery across all project phases:
- Pre-FEED, FEED, Detailed Engineering, and PMC
- Ensure execution of:
- Topsides structures (process modules, living quarters, bridges)
- Jackets and substructures
- Floating systems (FPSO and offshore platforms)
- Structural modelling, analysis, and weight engineering
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards
- Drive seamless integration with multidisciplinary teams
- Plan, recruit, and manage offshore structural engineering resources
- Develop competency frameworks and structured training programs
- Build a high-performing global delivery team leveraging multi-location talent
- Lead structural engineering inputs for bids and proposals
- Provide:
- Manhour estimates
- Project scheduling inputs
- Technical solutions and value engineering proposals
- Support business development and winning strategies
- Ensure compliance with Client Quality Management Systems
- Lead discipline audits and technical reviews
- Drive continuous improvement and implement lessons learned
- Collaborate with:
- Project Engineering Managers and discipline leads
- Clients and engineering partners
- Fabrication yards and construction teams
- Ensure strong coordination across disciplines (Mechanical, Piping, E&I, Marine)
- Promote adoption of digital engineering and 3D modelling practices
- Ensure effective use of structural analysis tools (e.g., SACS, SESAM)
- Maintain integrity and consistency of engineering data
- Structural engineering deliverables across the full project lifecycle
- Department resourcing and competency development plans
- Engineering compliance and audit reports
- Proposal estimates and technical documentation
- Continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in civil/Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred) 20+ years of offshore structural engineering experience
