Position Summary
The Operating Engineer shall assist in the operation and maintenance of the facility’s power generation assets as directed by senior operations leadership. This includes gas turbine operations, plant monitoring, startup and shutdown procedures, equipment inspections, and regulatory compliance activities required to support contracted generation and participation in energy markets.
This is a shift position. The successful candidate will work rotating shifts as part of the organization’s move toward 24/7 continuous generation.

Qualifications & Experience
- Power (Operating) Engineer with valid 2nd Class certification by TSSA (or interprovincial equivalent with transfer eligibility)
- Experience in steam and/or gas turbine operations is required
- Certificate or diploma of collegial studies in power engineering, electromechanics, electrotechnology, processes and/or mechanics
- Knowledge and experience with electrical circuits, PLC, hydraulic circuits, and heavy machinery
- Experience with IESO, HONI, and TSSA processes an asset
- Must be able to interpret technical drawings (civil, mechanical, electrical), specifications, wiring diagrams, and operating procedures
- Basic knowledge of the operations of a power plant and good knowledge of Health & Safety procedures
- IT skills (MS Office, Adobe, etc.) an asset
- Excellent communication skills in English; working knowledge of French an asset
- Makes appropriate recommendations according to analysis, problem solving, experience, and good judgement
- Pays special attention to quality, rigor, and details of the work done
- Effectively organizes and plans work time, priorities, and tasks
- Takes action in advance to avoid operational problems
- Is a team player
- Meets the physical requirements of the position
- Possesses a valid driver’s licence in good standing and is available for travel to perform the position, as may be required
