Product Owner / Lead Design Systems – 12 Months Contract – Paris, France
Must be able to speak fluent French with a good command of English
Hybrid – 3 days on site 2 days remote

Required:- Proven experience (minimum 3 to 5 years) in the design & management of large-scale Design Systems, with a significant background as a UI Designer or front-end developer. In-depth knowledge of UI/UX principles & digital accessibility standards. Detailed understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to communicate on an equal footing with developers. Ability to federate multidisciplinary teams, convince stakeholders & defend decisions without dogmatism. As Product Owner of the Design System, you carry the product vision & orchestrate its evolution in an Atomic Design logic (Atoms, Molecules, Organisms) to ensure modularity & perfect coherence. Your role is the pivotal point between design, technology & business
Tools
Design & Specifications: Expert proficiency in Figma (variables, auto-layout, shared libraries), Figma Make (behaviour testing), Storybook, & Supernova (or equivalents).
Collaboration & Research: Figma, Miro or Figjam for ideation, as well as user research & evaluation tools (usage tests, analytics).
Product management: Daily use of Jira (backlog), Confluence as a living document database.
Tech culture: Familiarity with versioning tools (Gitlab/GitHub) to dialogue with development teams.
Project context
Looking for a consultant to manage the evolution of the “internal products” (they have around 50 products in constant development) within the Design Studio (20 designers). Ensure scalability, visual consistency & operational excellent for my client’s 30+ squads.
Your responsibilities:
Carry the vision of the Design System, define the long-term strategy & deliver a clear product roadmap, respecting the governance & delivery standards of my client as well as the DNA of the Energies brand. Ensure the sustainability of the system by managing the backlog of new components & updates of existing patterns. Coordinate the development team dedicated to the integration of components (2 full-time Angular developers) & ensure the synchronization between the design & the code. Implement alignment rituals with a panel of users (designers & devs) during the design phases to ensure that the system meets the real needs of the field. Work hand in hand with the UI Designers to ensure that the associated Design Kit is perfectly maintained & updated.
Cross-cutting contributions
Work closely with Lead Design Ops, UX/UI teams & developers to integrate feedback & anticipate future needs. Promote the adoption of the Design System within the Factory & support the change with the business teams (demos, release orchestration, after-sales service). Collect & analyse system usage data. Implement performance indicators (KPIs) & metrics to measure the real impact of the Design System on product velocity & quality. Rigorously document design rules, components, & patterns to make them fluid & unambiguous for developers.
