Project Engineer – Mechanical / Wind Installation
NES Fircroft is seeking an experienced Project Engineer with a strong mechanical engineering and site delivery background. This role would suit someone from mining, resources, infrastructure, energy or heavy industry who is looking to move into large-scale renewable energy project delivery.
Direct wind experience is advantageous but not essential. The project will utilise new installation technology, so we are particularly interested in engineers who are technically capable, adaptable, willing to learn and confident working with contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary project teams.

The Role Reporting to the Installation Package Manager, you will support the delivery of wind turbine installation packages and associated equipment from early planning through to construction and commissioning.

Wind experience is beneficial but not essential. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong engineering fundamentals, practical site experience, good stakeholder skills and a genuine willingness to learn new installation technology.

- $90–$100 per hour + Super, depending on skills and experience
- Perth-based 5:2 initially, transitioning to a 2:1 FIFO roster

- Rate dependent on skills and experience
- Initial 5:2 Perth-based roster
- Transition to a 2:1 FIFO roster during site delivery

You will ideally have:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Around 5+ years' experience in Project Engineering across mining, resources, infrastructure, energy, renewables or heavy industry
- Strong practical site-based construction and project delivery experience
- Experience coordinating contractors, suppliers, equipment packages and multidisciplinary stakeholders
- Strong communication skills, commercial awareness and a willingness to learn new installation technology
The Role Reporting to the Installation Package Manager, you will support the delivery of wind turbine installation packages and associated equipment from early planning through to construction and commissioning.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Support supplier prequalification, tender evaluations and contract negotiations
- Assist with the technical and commercial procurement of major installation equipment
- Support the tendering and delivery of installation contracts
- Coordinate with engineering, quality, project, supplier and contractor teams
- Monitor manufacturing and installation progress against project schedules and milestones
- Support project deliverables across design, cost, schedule and construction planning
- Review technical documentation, drawings, specifications and vendor information
- Assist with RFIs, technical queries and engineering actions
- Support site installation activities and help resolve technical issues
- Assist with QA documentation, inspections, ITPs, ITRs and project close-out
- Coordinate interfaces across mechanical, structural, civil and electrical disciplines
- Support construction and commissioning activities through to handover
