Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Safety Representative to support and promote a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment. This role is responsible for implementing safety programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting training, investigating hazards, and providing guidance to employees, contractors, and management. The successful candidate will play a key role in minimizing workplace incidents, improving safety performance, and supporting emergency response activities.

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Safety Representative to support and promote a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment. This role is responsible for implementing safety programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting training, investigating hazards, and providing guidance to employees, contractors, and management. The successful candidate will play a key role in minimizing workplace incidents, improving safety performance, and supporting emergency response activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote a strong safety culture and work to reduce workplace accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions.
- Identify hazards and implement effective risk mitigation and loss prevention measures.
- Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, environmental, and transportation regulations.
- Maintain safety documentation, records, permits, and safety data information as required.
- Support and administer hot work, confined space, and other safety permit programs.
- Maintain and monitor health, safety, security, and emergency response equipment.
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver safety training programs for employees and contractors.
- Conduct safety inspections, audits, assessments, and incident investigations.
- Maintain required accident, injury, and compliance records.
- Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Provide safety guidance and recommendations to management and operational teams.
- Support emergency response planning, drills, and response team coordination.
- Assist with special projects related to safety, compliance, and operational risk management.
- May provide guidance or leadership to team members as needed.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of health and safety experience.
- Industry experience within a refining, industrial, manufacturing, energy, or similarly regulated environment.
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety principles and industrial hygiene practices.
- Experience interpreting and applying regulatory requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to influence others and advocate for safe work practices in a professional and diplomatic manner.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Specialized training or certifications in Industrial Safety, Hazard Assessment, Workers' Compensation, or related disciplines.
- Training or experience in hazardous materials transportation and regulatory compliance.
- Experience developing and delivering safety training programs.
- Combination of office and field-based work.
- Up to 30% travel may be required.
- Work may be performed in industrial environments with exposure to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, confined spaces, and outdoor weather conditions.
- Availability for occasional after-hours or weekend call-outs may be required.
