Site Project / Construction Engineer — Piping & Mechanical
Role Summary
Owner-side field role responsible for coordinating and driving piping and mechanical construction activities from installation through inspection, testing, punch clearance and handover, ensuring work is executed safely, to specification and in line with the project schedule.
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate day-to-day piping and mechanical construction activities with EPC contractors and subcontractors.
  • Monitor installation of process piping, equipment, valves, supports and associated mechanical systems.
  • Review P&IDs, isometrics, layouts, equipment drawings, specifications, ITPs and construction work packs.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Construction, QA/QC, Completions and Commissioning to resolve field issues.
  • Ensure piping and mechanical installations are complete and ready for inspection and testing.
  • Monitor welding/NDE, pressure testing, flushing, cleaning, reinstatement and equipment completion activities.
  • Identify and drive resolution of technical queries, RFIs, design changes and site issues.
  • Participate in field walkdowns and drive punch-list generation and closure.
  • Support systemisation, Mechanical Completion and progressive handover to Commissioning.
  • Monitor contractor progress and quality, challenge inaccurate progress and escalate schedule risks.
  • Ensure work is executed in accordance with HSE requirements and approved project procedures.
Candidate Requirements
  • 10+ years' experience in piping/mechanical construction on major oil & gas, petrochemical, LNG, refining or process projects.
  • Strong site construction experience with an Owner/EPCM/EPC contractor.
  • Extensive knowledge of process piping installation, welding, NDE, pressure testing, reinstatement and mechanical equipment installation.
  • Comfortable reading and interpreting P&IDs, isometrics, equipment drawings and layouts.
  • Strong understanding of QA/QC, ITPs, inspection requirements, construction documentation and turnover.
  • Experience with MC, punch management and system handover.
  • Strong field coordination, contractor management and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently in a high-pressure greenfield project environment.
Core Objective
Ensure piping and mechanical construction is safely and correctly executed, inspected, tested and progressively delivered to the completions/commissioning team in line with project milestones.
