Solids Control Technician
Location: Gillette, WY and surrounding Powder River Basin areas
Schedule: Rotational field schedule as required
Position Summary
Seeking an experienced Solids Control Technician to support drilling and waste management operations throughout the Powder River Basin. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with solids control equipment, dewatering systems, heavy equipment operation, and grinding operations while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and operational efficiency.

Position Summary
Seeking an experienced Solids Control Technician to support drilling and waste management operations throughout the Powder River Basin. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with solids control equipment, dewatering systems, heavy equipment operation, and grinding operations while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and maintain solids control equipment including shakers, centrifuges, pumps, tanks, and dewatering units.
- Perform dewatering operations to process drilling fluids and reduce waste volumes for disposal or recycling.
- Operate wheel loaders, skid steers, and other heavy equipment to transport, load, and manage drilling waste and solids.
- Operate industrial grinders and related equipment for waste reduction and material processing activities.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, and basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
- Monitor fluid systems and solids removal performance to maximize operational efficiency.
- Complete daily field reports, maintenance records, and safety documentation.
- Coordinate with drilling contractors, rig personnel, and customers to ensure seamless operations.
- Follow all company, OSHA, DOT, and environmental regulations and participate in safety meetings and training programs.
- Maintain a clean and organized worksite while promoting a strong safety culture.
- 2+ years of solids control, drilling fluids, waste management, or related oilfield experience preferred.
- Proven experience with dewatering equipment and processes.
- Experience operating wheel loaders, skid steers, and other heavy equipment.
- Experience operating industrial grinders or related material-processing equipment.
- Ability to perform basic mechanical maintenance and equipment troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of oilfield safety practices and environmental compliance requirements.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
