Turnaround Planning and Scheduling Lead

Turnaround Planning & Scheduling Lead Position Overview The Turnaround (TA) Planning & Scheduling Lead is responsible for leading all planning and scheduling activities associated with major turnaround events, including capital projects incorporated into turnaround scope.

This position serves as the subject matter expert for turnaround planning and scheduling, ensuring work is properly planned, resourced, scheduled, tracked, and executed safely. The role works closely with the Turnaround Core Team, site personnel, contractors, vendors, and management.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the Turnaround Planning & Scheduling team, including allocating resources to meet turnaround objectives and milestones.
• Develop and maintain planning and scheduling standards, procedures, and requirements.
• Lead the development and integration of detailed turnaround schedules, including Level 1 through Level 3 schedules.
• Develop and review detailed work packages, ensuring scope, labor, materials, sequencing, and HSE requirements are clearly defined.
• Review and approve work packages for quality, completeness, and accuracy.
• Lead integrated schedule development and periodic schedule reviews.
• Analyze schedules to identify critical/near-critical paths, risks, optimization opportunities, resource requirements, and contingency plans.
• Develop resource/manpower histograms, staffing plans, cost estimates, and progress forecasts using planning and scheduling data.
• Manage daily turnaround execution schedules, progress updates, additional work, and schedule changes.
• Monitor and report schedule impacts, including critical path changes, resource forecasts, duration changes, cost impacts, and HSE considerations.
• Provide accurate progress reports and updates to the Turnaround Manager and management team.
• Provide training and guidance to turnaround personnel on planning and scheduling systems and processes.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, turnaround standards, and HSE requirements.

Required Experience

• 10+ years of combined experience as a Turnaround Planner and/or Turnaround Scheduler within the chemical, petrochemical, or refining industry.
• 2+ years of Planning & Scheduling Lead experience.
• Strong experience planning and scheduling major turnarounds/shutdowns.
• Experience managing multi-level turnaround schedules, Level 1 through Level 3.
• Strong knowledge of turnaround execution, manufacturing operations, and project controls.
• Experience developing manpower plans, cost estimates, progress reporting, schedule risk assessments, and earned value measurements.

Systems & Technical Skills

• Strong experience with Primavera P6 for turnaround scheduling.
• Experience with SAP for planning, work orders, and materials coordination.
• Experience with Prometheus STO preferred.
• OPC experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
• Strong understanding of project controls, schedule risk, resource planning, forecasting, and cost management.
