Our client is seeking a General Manager for a permanent-hire position to support a machine and fabrication shop located in Midland, Texas.

About The Role
The company is a leading full-service machine and fabrication shop that specializes in the manufacturing and servicing of high-pressure flow control products and components for the oil and gas industry.  The company was founded on the philosophy of delivering industry-leading turnaround times and quality control, making it a trusted partner for some of the largest oilfield OEM, service and rental companies in the world.  Founded in 2003, the management team has a 20-year history of successfully managing through multiple energy cycles.  Headquartered in Houma, LA, with a relatively new facility in Midland, TX, placing it in close proximity to the largest industry OEMs and the most active oil- and gas-producing region in the United States.

Position Overview
Reporting to the CEO, the General Manager (GM) will serve as the company’s commercial leader for the West Texas market, with full responsibility for growing the business and capturing a greater market share of the Permian Basin. With a strong shop manager now in place to run day-to-day shop operations, the GM’s primary mandate is business development — deepening relationships with existing customers and winning new accounts among the region’s operators, OEMs, and service and rental companies — while providing overall leadership for the facility’s P&L, sales, quality, safety, and back-office functions.  The ideal candidate is a long-tenured member of the Permian Basin business community who knows the West Texas market’s major and minor players firsthand, leads by example, is metric-driven, and pairs genuine commercial drive with enough technical fluency to earn the trust of customers and the shop team alike.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own business development for the West Texas market — identify, pursue, and win new business with Permian Basin operators, OEMs, and service and rental companies to grow market share.
  • Lead and support existing outside and inside sales resources focused on West Texas.
  • Leverage and expand a local network of relationships across the Permian Basin to make ASAP the partner of choice in the region.
  • Develop and implement operations strategies to improve shop efficiency and profitability.
  • Partner with the shop manager to ensure the facility is fully staffed with qualified, skilled labor and operating productively.
  • Create and maintain a strong culture of accountability through the development and enforcement of daily/weekly/monthly performance goals.
  • Manage the full P&L for the Midland facility and proactively raise significant trends in costs.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety and compliance protocols.
  • Partner with the shop manager to ensure machinery uptime and maintenance investments support the facility’s commitments to customers.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Significant tenure at an oil & gas service or manufacturing company serving the Permian Basin, with a track record of commercial growth and general management.
  • Deep roots in the Permian Basin — an established local who personally knows the West Texas market’s major and minor players (operators, OEMs, and service and rental companies); candidates based in the Midland/Odessa area strongly preferred.
  • Proven business development track record - a demonstrable history of winning new business, opening doors through existing relationships, and growing market share.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and retain a high-performing team; hands-on experience managing skilled shop labor is a plus.
  • P&L responsibility experience required.
  • Lean or six-sigma training or certification is a plus.
  • Working for a PE-backed portfolio company is a plus.

Why Work Here
  • Take Ownership and Lead growth in the Permian Basin. The most active oil & gas region in North America.
  • Direct Access to Executive Leadership and play a critical role in shaping the company’s future growth and strategy.
  • Strong Foundation with Significant Opportunity in a respected business with more than 20 years of industry success and reputation.
  • Autonomy and Visible Impact in driving company performance, developing relationships and influencing business results.
  • Work alongside an Established Team with deep Industry Expertise.
  • Competitive Compensation Package with Long-term growth potential.
