NES Fircroft is currently recruiting a Construction Quality Explosive Environment Inspector for a leading energy and engineering project in Singapore.
The Construction Quality Explosive Environment Inspector will be responsible for overseeing quality and compliance activities within hazardous and classified areas during the construction phase of a major industrial project. This role will ensure that equipment, systems, and installations comply with applicable explosive atmosphere requirements, project specifications, and industry standards while supporting safe and efficient project execution.
Eligibility: Applicants must have existing and unrestricted rights to work in Singapore. Please note that employment pass or work pass sponsorship is not available for this position.

This role will ensure that equipment, systems, and installations comply with applicable explosive atmosphere requirements, project specifications, and industry standards while supporting safe and efficient project execution.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all construction activities within hazardous and classified areas are carried out in accordance with applicable industry standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Inspect and assess hazardous area installations to verify compliance with area classifications, equipment certification requirements, and approved protection methods.
- Monitor construction activities involving explosion-protected equipment and systems to ensure compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
- Verify the installation and compliance of electrical equipment, wiring systems, instrumentation, and associated components intended for hazardous area service.
- Ensure materials and equipment installed within classified areas are fit for purpose and appropriately certified.
- Review and verify the implementation of explosion protection methods, including flameproof, intrinsically safe, pressurized, and purge-protected systems.
- Conduct routine inspections, audits, and quality surveillance activities across site construction areas.
- Maintain inspection records and prepare reports detailing observations, findings, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
- Work closely with construction, engineering, commissioning, and quality teams to resolve quality and compliance issues.
- Identify risks associated with hazardous area installations and support the implementation of mitigation measures.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to project HSSE requirements.
- Support testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities related to hazardous area systems when required.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in construction quality, inspection, QA/QC, or hazardous area compliance within the Oil & Gas, Energy, Petrochemical, Offshore, Marine, Shipbuilding, or Heavy Industrial sectors.
- Experience supporting large-scale construction or brownfield/greenfield industrial projects.
- Strong understanding of hazardous area classifications including Zone 0, Zone 1, and Zone 2 environments.
- Working knowledge of IEC 60079, IECEx, ATEX, NEC, and other relevant hazardous area standards.
- Experience inspecting explosion-protected electrical and instrumentation equipment.
- Understanding of construction quality processes, inspection methodologies, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Strong awareness of health, safety, environmental, and process safety requirements.
- Excellent reporting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
