Legal Counsel

About the Role Our client is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to provide legal advisory services across a broad range of legal disciplines, supporting a defined business area. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with business stakeholders and provide practical, commercially focused legal support on operational, transactional, and regulatory matters.

The successful candidate will have autonomy in managing less complex matters while collaborating with senior legal colleagues on strategic and high-risk issues. The position requires strong legal expertise, business acumen, and the ability to navigate a dynamic and evolving business environment.

Key Responsibilities
Typically, this role will involve:

• Providing supervised legal counsel and advice relating to a variety of legal fields (or a single specialist area) to a defined business function.
• Acting as an individual contributor, with stakeholder engagement primarily at operational and middle-management levels.
• Supporting interactions with external parties, including counterparties, business partners, and third-party advisors.
• Exercising sound judgment in determining when matters should be escalated to management or more experienced legal colleagues.
• Managing less complex legal matters independently, including day-to-day issues where established precedents exist.
• Keeping relevant stakeholders informed at key stages of legal matters and decision-making processes.

Qualifications & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Demonstrated ability to provide expert legal advice, with knowledge and experience in:
  • Regulatory compliance for a publicly listed company
  • Commercial contracts
  • Corporate transactions, including acquisitions, divestments, new business development, partnerships, and joint ventures
  • Litigation and dispute resolution
  • Antitrust, data privacy, intellectual property, and other related legal practice areas
• Digital fluency and AI readiness, with a positive mindset toward innovation and change.
• Experience leveraging technology and AI tools to improve the quality, speed, and consistency of legal support.
• Strong project management, stakeholder management, and continuous improvement capabilities.
• Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams and coordinate cross-functional stakeholders while delivering high-quality legal support aligned with business priorities and timelines.
• Membership in the Philippine Bar with a minimum of eight (8) years of post-qualification experience, including prior law firm training.
• Excellent written, drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
