Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced BOP Mechanical Area Manager to lead the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of mechanical construction activities on a major infrastructure project.
The role will oversee mechanical installation works including pipework, drainage and dewatering, cooling water, HVAC interfaces, oil systems, fire protection, workshop equipment, lifting systems and associated mechanical infrastructure.

We are seeking an experienced BOP Mechanical Area Manager to lead the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of mechanical construction activities on a major infrastructure project.
The role will oversee mechanical installation works including pipework, drainage and dewatering, cooling water, HVAC interfaces, oil systems, fire protection, workshop equipment, lifting systems and associated mechanical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage BOP mechanical construction activities within the assigned area.
- Coordinate Mechanical Superintendents, Supervisors, Engineers and subcontractors.
- Deliver construction activities safely, on schedule, within budget and to required quality standards.
- Develop construction strategies, work packages and resource plans aligned with project milestones.
- Ensure construction readiness, including drawings, methodologies, SWMS, ITPs, materials and tooling.
- Drive strong safety performance and compliance with WHS legislation and project requirements.
- Manage mechanical installation, testing, completion and handover activities.
- Monitor productivity, workforce utilisation, cost and subcontractor performance.
- Manage quality, NCRs, defects and punch list closeout.
- Coordinate interfaces with Engineering, Project Controls, Quality, HSE, Procurement and Commissioning.
- Identify and resolve construction constraints, risks and interface issues.
- Provide accurate progress reporting, forecasting and performance updates.
- Support commissioning and progressive handover of completed systems.
- Mechanical trade qualification and/or Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
- White Card and current Australian Driver Licence.
- 10–15+ years' mechanical construction experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience managing large mechanical installation teams and multiple subcontractors.
- Proven experience delivering complex mechanical packages on major infrastructure, mining, power, hydro or similar projects.
- Experience with EPC/EPCM project environments desirable.
- Major hydro, underground construction or FIDIC experience highly regarded.
- Strong mechanical construction and installation knowledge.
- Proven leadership and team management capability.
- Strong planning, scheduling and interface management skills.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of productivity and cost control.
- Strong understanding of Australian Standards, quality requirements and commissioning processes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proactive approach to problem solving and construction delivery.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality and accountability.
