Tesla Automation has ongoing PLC Programmer requirements across the US Tesla plants.
Initial deployments are expected to run for 8–12 weeks. If performance is strong, contractors could be retained until the end of Q1 2027.
  - Hours: 65-80 hours per week
- Rotation: 4-5 On, 1-2 Off
- Multiple Site Positions: Freemont (8), Austin (2), Reno (2), Houston (1)
- No sponsorship provided 

 
Priority skills:
  • Previous Tesla PLC programming experience
  • Siemens TIA Portal / S7
  • WinCC / SINAMICS / S120 drives
  • Onsite commissioning
  • Production support and troubleshooting
  • Automotive battery line or e-mobility commissioning
For additional Candidates, also consider candidates with the following automotive PLC standards:
  • SICAR / SICA
  • BMW GSC / TMO / TKB 
These frameworks are reasonably close to Tesla’s Siemens PLC software environment

Task
○ Commissioning of machines up to the error-free manual operation of all individual components
    • Commissioning bus system (Profinet or EtherCAT)
    • Commissioning and testing of safety devices (emergency stop, doors, light curtains)
    • Commissioning of servo drives (Siemens S120, LTI ServoOne, Jenny Science, etc.) including safety functions (STO, SOS, SLS)
    • Commissioning of manual functions
    • Troubleshooting in collaboration with our electricians
○ Support with the setup of machines
○ Production support
Profile
○ Minimum 6 months of relevant professional experience in the field of commissioning
○ Basic programming knowledge
○ Basic knowledge of safety programming with TwinCAT3 or Siemens TIA Portal
○ Good knowledge of the Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 or Siemens TIA Portal development environment


 
Level B
Task
  • Commissioning of machines up to the error-free operation of all automated functions
    • Home Position run
    • Calibrations
    • Master controller connection (e.g., Tesla MOS and Pallet Record)
    • Communication with external controllers (e.g., vision systems, lasers, screwdrivers)
    • Production operation
  • Production support
Profile
  • Minimum 12 months of relevant professional experience in the field of PLC programming
  • Experience with programming standards in the automotive industry
  • Good knowledge of the Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 or Siemens TIA Portal development environment
 
 
Level C
Task
  • Complete development of machine software according to requirements
    • Preparation of hardware configuration
    • Preparation of safety software based on the safety matrix
    • Preparation of manual functions based on system diagrams
    • Preparation of sequential functions based on time-function diagrams
  • Creation of visualizations
  • Creation of documents and operating instructions
Profile
  • Minimum three years of relevant professional experience in the field of PLC programming
  • Experience with programming standards in the automotive industry
  • Good knowledge of the Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 or Siemens TIA Portal development environment
