Production Chemist | Brisbane CBD based - 6 month contract

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Production Chemist to support production optimisation, well interventions and value realisation initiatives within a major upstream oil and gas operation.
This is a hands-on technical role suited to a production chemist with strong upstream experience who can quickly integrate into an established multidisciplinary team and deliver immediate value.

Occasional site visits to Chinchilla may be required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead delivery of chemistry-related production optimisation and value realisation opportunities.
  • Design and support well intervention programs, including foamer, solids control, scale, corrosion, microbial control and water treatment programs.
  • Diagnose production performance issues using field, laboratory and production data.
  • Lead Product Stewardship activities, including chemical approvals and compliance requirements.
  • Provide Production Chemistry input into well, reservoir, facilities and production intervention planning.
  • Develop intervention strategies, treatment designs and post-job evaluations.
  • Work collaboratively with Operations, Wells, Reservoir, Facilities and Development teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Provide technical assurance for chemistry programs and intervention execution.
  • Support contract management activities across chemical supply and laboratory services.
  • Identify opportunities to improve production performance and reduce operating expenditure.
Skills & Experience
  • Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Extensive upstream Production Chemistry experience supporting production optimisation and well interventions.
  • Demonstrated experience across WRFM, chemical treatments and production enhancement programs.
  • Strong technical understanding of corrosion, scale, microbiology, produced water chemistry and solids management.
  • Proven experience delivering chemistry-based production uplift and OPEX reduction initiatives.
  • Experience with laboratory testing, technical assurance and interpretation of production and laboratory data.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary asset teams.
  • Experience with Production Chemistry modelling, including OLI and/or STIM2001.
  • CSG and unconventional gas experience highly desirable.
