Position: Deputy Production Manager
Department: Subsurface
Location: Basra, Iraq
Duration: 12 months renewable
Rotation: 28/28
Role Synopsis
The Deputy Production Manager is responsible for the development and management of production delivery. The role reports to the Deputy Subsurface Manager & the General Manager and includes 8 direct reports, consisting of Iraqi nationals and International Expats.
Key Accountabilities
• Lead production agenda: Leading the production agenda ensuring short- and long-term commitments are in accordance with the ERP, Annual Workplan & Budget and safety standards. Lead monthly GM production reviews, working with other departments and HoD’s to ensure ownership and management of production and losses are being done efficiently
• Production performance management: Hold subsurface teams (New Well Delivery, Reservoir Management, Base Management) and other departments (Ops, Wells, Projects) accountable to ensure production targets are being met
o Communicate potential production delivery risks proactively to ensure senior management can respond to challenges in timely manner
o Initiate and implement learnings from performance workshops into the organisation to ensure production is maintained at predicted levels
o Ensure production opportunities are benchmarked and selected as per highest value and cost efficiencies enabling optimum production within capital constrained environment
Explore, appraise, trial and integrate production-adding innovations into enabling rate-, cost- and/or safety improvements
• Drive best practices: Manage the production management team to ensure production planning, forecasting and hydrocarbon accounting is conducted at best practices
• Capability building: Mentor and develop the Production Management Team (6 Iraqi staff + 2 Expat positions) to support the nationalisation and ‘Excellence’ agenda.
• Subsurface leadership: Act as a member of the Subsurface Leadership team and lead Performance Management initiatives.
• Drive transformation: Lead Modernisation and Transformation strategy within the Production performance, ensuring all key production metrics are visible within the organisation to support decision making. Promote agile ways of working within the Production Management team.
Criteria & Qualifications
• University Degree in an Engineering discipline. MSc desirable
• Track record of Safety Leadership
• Proven Risk management responsibilities and proven ability to apply strategic thinking and prioritization
• Deep discipline knowledge encompassing the full breadth of departmental activities
• Proven track record of delivery and wide-ranging cross-functional experience working in integrated, fast paced working environment
• Fluent English and good presentation skills with effective interdisciplinary communication and oilfield development skills
• Strong communication skills and presentation techniques
• Proficient in hiring, coaching and mentoring personnel
• People management and influencing skills (including technical and leadership development experience)
• Experience in driving the M&T agenda of a department/business
• Ability to manage high activity environment with tight deadlines
